T1N window screens

I have one screen that wasn’t doing it’s job so decided to remove them all and rescreen them with no-see-um screen material. I also wanted to eliminate that piece of plastic that surrounds the opening knob. Some of mine have huge gaps in them and most anything can get in.

My first attempt looks like this. I replaced the screen and simply made a small slit in the screen big enough for the window winder to get through the screen. It fits tight all around the base of the shaft and so far I like this option. Even if I had to add some clear silicone sealant, it would be easy to remove at a later date if need be.

The Velcro is a major PITA as some of came off with both the sides, not just the half attached to the screen. Removing the Velcro was easy but there was some residual glue left that some work to remove. So, if I decide to stick with Velcro, I will replace it all since I can see other areas where it is coming loose.

DEFINITE mod in my future: building a sub-flap into this screen so that I can dangle the weBoost 4Gx “chocolate bar” out the window without having to rip the screen off its Velcro. The amplifier works well, but proximity is key. The signal won’t reach under the awning so I cannot have morning tea outdoors without it. The chocolate bar has to be outside. Right now it’s the difference between “No Service” and 1 - 5 Mbps.
