Sun visor anti swivel clips puzzling...

I seem to be puzzled by the sun visor clips which prevent the pivoting of the visors to the sides. These additional plastic pieces are not readily removed so the visor cannot be "unhooked" and pivoted to the side windows. Am I missing something here?...

Thee is actually a thread on this. They are removable, however it is believed they are installed to avoid the visor being moved in front of the side curtain airbag.

Yep, the side curtain airbags that are already a hazard and have been recalled.

Kind thinking maybe it would be better to be slapped upside the head with a visor. Maybe it would minimize the Takata explosion.

I removed mine last year. Did not get the Airbag recall notice until last month.

No tools needed. Grab the clip with your hand, pull down, and rotate toward back of the rig and it'll come off. Pretty easy once you try and won't break.

I've seen various reasons listed behind why it's there... Nevertheless, pulled mine off and have been able to use the visors on the side since.

I didn't realize the the side curtain air bags were involved in the Takata recalls. I've only seen recalls for the passenger air bag and the driver air bag. I received a recall on the drivers air bag for my 2012 Sprinter. Now waiting for more info on parts.

I need to find my recall notice (I just moved) but I could have sworn mine said side curtain airbags on my 2015 which is a 2014 chassis.

I've just purchased a 2014.5 Interstate and have no knowledge of the airbag recall. Where can I get information on a recall that may impact my unit?

You need to get your Sprinter registered with Mercedes so they have you in their owner data base. I did mine on the telephone with Mercedes customer service. Have your Sprinter VIN handy when you make the call. This will ensure you get the recall notices in the mail from Mercedes. Also get the Interstate registered with Airstream in case there are airstream recalls that effect you.

My notice said there is to be a recall but Mercedes has to figure out a fix for the problem and I would be notified when a fix was available. Still waiting for the second notice.
