We are new to the RV experience so I appreciate this forum very much.
I purchased a 2021 Airstream Atlas and was surprised to find that it does not have a tpms.
I ended up getting a flat in the outside dually but was unaware of it until parking that evening. How nice (and safe) it would have been to know of the problem with the tire when it occurred. So I will not be using the Atlas until I have a tpms installed. To that end, does anyone know if Mercedes can retrofit a tpms to the 3500 chasis - or will I need to put in some other system. Airstream should make a tpms standard on the Atlas.

This is not an Airsteam issue. It is a MB issue.

It has been discussed many times and No, you cannot retrofit.

You need to use an external TPMS system and replace your valve stems with metal ones.

try this.

. . .
Personally I think it IS an Airstream issue. Mercedes does not install a TPMS on their 3500 Sprinters in USA because they are not required by the US DOT regulations. Shame on Mercedes for being cheap - but their game is to make a profit.

For the price Airstream charges for the Atlas they should be installing a TPMS. Loss of tire pressure is a common problem on dually Sprinters. Several other manufactures of high end 3500 Sprinter based RVs add a TPMS.

FYI - Since 2020 Ford made TPMS standard equipment on all Transits, including the dual rear wheel (DRW) HD 350 Transits. Good for Ford!!
