Sliding door

Just pulled into an RV park in Galloway, Ohio outside of Columbus and our big sliding side door has given up the ghost. There is no operating pressure when you push the button on the inside handle, just pushes in freely, and the outside handle doesn’t work either. We have pressed the lock and unlock functions on the key and dash numerous times and no change.
Any others have this problem! Any easy or DIY fixes or is this something best left to a dealer.
Our unit is a 2017 AI Ext Tommy Bahama that we have owned for 7 months and it has 15k miles on it.
Thanks for any help or info.

Baring anyone with a quick fix, there are 2 MB dealers in Columbus, the nearest one to you would be in Dublin. Any chance you have tools to remove the door panel to see if the linkage has come apart?

Something possibly similar (kinda/sorta) may have happened with my 2018 AIGT Ext. In my case the door was not fully closed shut (not a hard enough slam when closing) and as a result the door was stuck in a somewhat of a no-man's land. This was remedied by applying pressure to the outer door so as to complete the shutting process. In other words I held the outer handle and pressed in and over hard (towards the shutting position). This did the trick, the door completed its full shut cycle and no other issues developed and the door has worked 100% fine since.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks Rig Rat and Luckysnuck for replying.
Yes, the door was stuck in that no man’s you described. We drove away from the campground with the dash panel showing an open door. We hit a bump and I heard a kind of click sound in the door. When we stopped a little later to fuel up the door worked and we could open it. I was sure it was going to be some very difficult or expensive repair!
Still learning and finding out lots after about 7 months of ownership and 7k miles!

A lot of folks have this problem. It is aggravated by the stuff Airstream adds to the sliding door and the interference caused by the interior cabinets near the door. I trimmed off some of the interior paneling to reduce the problem after my door got stuck and was hard to close.

Watch this video for tips on how to solve problem if your sliding door gets stuck again.
