Shipping new Interstate 19

Has anyone shipped their Airstream Interstate 19 from West coast to East coast?

Welcome to the forum!

Even though the Nineteen is short enough for most flat bed tow trucks, it is taller and I'd still be a bit concerned they carefully plan the route to avoid damage due to tree limbs and low clearance underpasses along the route (particular any city streets at the start and end). I also would worry about ground clearance when loading and unloading (ask member Interblog why).

I hope this is not necessary due to some family emergency because towing should be last resort.

Good luck.

You can probably hire a service for less than a flatbed. Think about it: two vehicles, complete with drivetrains, rolling down the road, vs. one. One driver either way, but CDL required for the hauled scenario. The difference will pay for hotel stays for the driver inside the ‘19,if that’s your concern.

Hi

One truly unique way to do it would be to ship it by sea. This is a common option for getting RV's to Alaska and the only practical way to "do" Europe / Asia / South America.

There’s some shippers who offer RV transport. I’ve shipped some cars from Texas to the Midwest recently. They are pretty booked up with the amount of dealers and people shipping cars due to the shortage. I would recommend checking around early if you get serious about it and make sure you have it booked plenty ahead of time as they can be a couple weeks out with the amount of transports they have booked.

Thank you for your response. I will start contacting different RV transport companies to get cost and turn around time on shipping. Luckily our Interstate 19 won't be in for several weeks.

Hi

If this is a newly purchased Interstate, I would strongly recommend going out and taking delivery in person. There is a *lot* of information presented about the vehicle at delivery (or there should be ...). There's also a bit of a "go over" as part of the process. Minor issues get caught and fixed as a result.

If it helps... I shipped my cars from PA to TX, and they arrived... I dont know exactly how well they arrived because I haven't gotten to Texas myself. My friend who accepted them, did not scrutinize, and I left everything in those cars. I just know they arrived and they started OK. She said that the man delivering my sports car was very sweaty and she didn't want to sit in the driver's seat after him. (Not a big deal for me, there are washable car covers on the seats.)
The delivery person also did not know how to open the hood, didn't know he was supposed to hook up the cars to battery tenders.
But, the cars arrived.
I asked about shipping my new Roadtrek SS Agile, and this company said they could do it as well.
I just bought an Interstate 19 in WA and I will be calling the same company to ship it to me in FL. It will be inspected by my RVIA inspector in WA and I'll recieve it.
These are difficult times. Good luck!

This is an RV, not a car. Accepting delivery sight unseen and then shipping it across country is likely one if the worst things you can do to yourself as an owner of a new RV. RV stuff will be busted, right from the factory, and some things will likely need to be serviced before you even leave the dealer’s lot. That’s just how RV’s are.

Your rig, your money, do what you want, but no way would I even consider this course of action.

I'm flying to California to inspect and accept delivery of our Interstate 19 4x4 but due to dog sitting issues we won't be able to drive it back to Florida. I would never accept a vehicle sight unseen, especially spending this amount of money.

Hi

Indeed sounds good.

What does the dealer you are getting it from ( I'm assuming it's a dealer .... that could be totally wrong ...) say about shipping? They deal with this stuff all the time. I would *think* that a crew that had just come west with this or that might love a back haul load ....
