Yeah, somebody used a roof rack to support additional solar panels. I choose to mount my new panels on the roof and on the side rail (opposite side from the awning).

Roof racks can be used on older T1N Interstates, because the awning attaches to the side, not to the roof rack. However, on NCV3 Interstates, the awning mounts where a roof rack rail would go.

yes, I have the newer version (NCV3).
I love that awning when it is out, but it is killing me with some of the modifications I am working on. Its big, its beautiful, its in the way up there on the roof!

I don't know your project ideas but this plate allows you to work around the Fiamma mounts.
My advice was lacking in fullness and richness of detail

Best I can tell after further research, the sprinter store plate works only if:
1. Your Fiamma F65 was mounted on the Mercedes Sprinter rail and not directly in the roof gutter. (AS chose the roof gutter on my 2014)
2. The plate works only with the segmented mounting brackets that are shown and not with the full length extrusion that seems to be used on the Eagle model. (I have the Eagle model)

OTOH the Fiamma full length fairing looks like a perfectly good substrate for attaching accessories, mounts, subsystem brackets and other attachments without penetrating the roof. I wish I had realized this when mounting a new solar panel.
(Fiamma mounting bracket photo also shown for context)
I made my own plates like those when I added Rhino-Rack cross bars on my roof to hold four 100 watt solar panels. It helps if you have the Sprinter factory roof rails on your Interstates. Mine is a 2013 model, but I think Airstream stopped ordering the Sprinter roof rails on later model Interstates.

I agree with you, i can use the full length fiamma fairing to rig up for the right side, but there is nothing on the left side. Older campers had gutters and things but this has nothing but a van ridge. Is drilling in the roof the only option?
Can you tell me how you connected the roof rail ? Rivet or insert with bolt in existing holes. I have a 2016 Interstate. Cannot access the bottom side of the roof to installing a nut without tearing the interior apart.
Thanks
