Go south, then west, and you should be fine, weather-wise.

When we would head out in January, we just drove hard a couple of days until we were out of the worst of it, then found a place to dewinterize and pull things together. The worst of it varied from year to year.

If you have plenty of propane, even sleeping at rest stops is plenty doable until you are far enough south to find campgrounds open.

Have a great time.

I wish i could pull the Ford Raptor
Why pull the Raptor while the Bimmer just sits there crying, "Take Me"?

Too bad the Interstate doesn't have the "oomph" to tandem-tow both of them!

Hi, Gambita! We've made several cross country trips in our 2012 Interstate. Our trips have been in the Fall, coming back to California in November. Even in November, we've run into freezing weather on all three trips! The first trip we didn't turn on the tank heaters, and we had a problem, but since that experience, we've turned on our heaters and have been fine. All three times we've travelled on Interstate 40. Enjoy your trip!

Fantastic! How has the trip been going? Has the Interstate been comfy for the last few weeks?

Have to say I'm envious...

We took I-80 west all the way. The trip was smooth except in Wyoming ,
they closed I-80 for half an hour due to road icing but the Interstate took it all the way up.
