Replacing House Batteries - 2017 AI GT Ext

Hi Folks, Sorry, a very basic question. Are there instructions somewhere on this forum to replace the house batteries on a 2017 AI GT Ext? I tried a few different searches and lots of discussion on which batteries to use but I didn't find anything on how to get the stock batteries out and to be able to replace them with equivalent ones? Thanks in advance!

The only concern is the weight... removing them and replacing them is a fairly easy task... disconnect negative, then positive... remove the two bolts on each bracket holding the battery in place... and slide out...

I like to put electrical tape on the terminals while handling, to avoid any accidental contact with anything... same with the cables.

Easier said than done because of the weight... plus the dirt in place and lack of handles to pull makes it difficult to slide out... I have seen folks make rubber pulls that they bolt to the terminals (nothing that conducts electricity of course!!!)

If originals - Lifeline GPL-24T

When I bought mine, these guys had the best prices at 250.00 shipped... I see now that they are 299.99 and out of stock until 9/20.

Hi

+1

Those batteries each weight 56 pounds. That may not sound like a lot when lifting an object from a "normal" angle / position. When yanking them out of a weird space at a strange angle ... be careful.

If you decide to try to cram something bigger in, more capacity always means more weight. Group 27's are up at 62 pounds each.

If you have solar on your MH (and the sun is shining) the battery leads likely will still be hot when pulled off the battery. Taping or somehow insulating them is very much part of the process.

I installed a cutoff switch between panels and solar controller as recommended by AM Solar. Makes working on the electrical system safer.
