Quick and Dirty ... Macerator Question

OK - my very first time with a macerator pump experience. Yucky

Mulitplex Wiring Setup - 2018 Coach

Macerator Motor - No Power:

We hardly use the restroom on our vans, certainly never the shower for some reason ... so minimal use, for sure no kids toys, rope, or fem napkins etc... for sure

Fuse?

20 Amp Macerator Fuse on a 2018 unit is where please?

I checked the circuit breakers aft driver's side jump seat ...is there another fuse location I'm not aware of?

I get confused (easily) and recall the fuses being under the drivers seat, accessible from an open drivers door on prior vans (2017?)

Thanks all - embarrassed to post ...

Macerator fuse is under the RS jump seat. There is a list of fuses next to the physical fuse on my 2018.

I replaced the provided 20 amp fuse with a 20 amp slow-blow fuse. The slow-blow fuse will handle the surge from a slow-starting macerator without blowing. I have never blown one since on two successive coaches.

Ours is used at every coach use. My private toilet is one of the reasons I have a van. I don't understand folks that do not use it.

Don’t forget the screw on the side. Turn with a screwdriver when the macerator is off to make sure the impeller is not stuck. There’s a cover you need to take off the end of the pump if I remember correctly.

I have searched unsuccessfully for slow-blow fuses. Do you have a source or link for them that you’d be willing to share with us?

Sorry. Bought them years ago. Took a lot of trouble finding them.

Our macerator kept blowing the fuse. We used the screw to move the macerator blades to have it blow again. My husband then pulled the macerator out and discovered hair wrapped around the blade was the problem. We are the third owners and had not used the shower yet. After cleaning out the hair all was well. We now have a strainer in the floor drain of the bathroom to try and catch hair and debris.

We use our bathroom all the time. Even showered in it recently when the RV park we stopped at overnight did not have open showers. Worked fine. Most impressed with the hot water heater.

We use it, just doesn’t get many cycles with one or two people traveling occasionally.

Thanks all for the skinny on the fuse, and manual flathead turn on the pump checking the impeller

If the motor will not run or you do not have a fuse, you can turn the impeller (clockwise) with a flat screwdriver bit chucked in a battery-operated drill.

My Class A does not have a built-in macerator, I have a Sewer Solution that is water-powered, hook it up to the tank output.

If your fuses are the "standard" cartridge fuses then the replacement is a 20 amp "microwave" fuse. They have a white ceramic middle instead of clear glass and you should be able to get them at any decent hardware store or, of course, Amazon. Get at least 2.

The fuses are standard automotive fuses. Available just about anywhere.

Littlefuse makes them in ATO size, as well. That is what I bought. I had to buy 5, if I remember correctly.

Hi

All of this "stuff" likes to be used every so often. Avoiding running this or that is a good way to set up for a "surprise" the first time it gets turned on. I'm not suggesting you have to run everything on the coach or trailer every week, only that something like once every 3 to 6 months might be a good idea.

We head over to a local state park every so often to use their water / sewer / power .... to do a good clean out of pretty much everything. The neighbors in the campground often think we are a bit nuts
