Crap, apparently it's my day to be dyslexic, because the correct OEM tank number is 68162, which is what yours shows as. I reversed my digits in reply #11 above.

Ok, today for the first time my propane alarm went off while filling. A little back story. A few months ago I posted about propane flowing under the Interstate while filling. Turned out the fill hose had multiple cracks. Today I replace both the fill hose and fill valve release hose. The tank is six gallons and as it was empty took exactly 4.8 gallons which is 80% of capacity and exactly what is recommended. I figure I saved a bundle replacing these hoses as a DYI project. It only took a minute of driving for the propane alarm to stop blaring and and a spritz of soapy water indicated no leaks.

I'd love to see pics of those hoses.

I will try and take some pictures once the rain stops. I live in a small town in No. CA and was able to get the hoses made while I waited, at the local pneumatic supply store. The fill hose was the culprit but I changed both as a precaution.

These are the two hoses I replaced. The large one on the right is the fill, the small one is for the bleeder. The fittings are the same on each end of the individual hose.

Propane smell

I also noticed a propane smell inside van after last time I filled tank.
I think it may have come in through a door or window. The alarm did not go off.
Never noticed the smell before , maybe it was the wind direction ???
I am concerned however that sometimes the bleeder/over fill valve does not always go off and sometimes its seems hard to get propane in the tank like there's a back pressure or something ?
I also wonder if the tank should be pressure tested it is almost 12 years old already ?
I posted a link earlier showing a sprinter based RV on fire at a propane filling station. This happened near where we live , very scary !!
Cheers
Colin

The operator must open the bleeder valve and shut as soon as liquid appears.

I always open bleeder valve when filling tank but it doesn't always bleed
