About six weeks ago, I posted a pic of our rig on our lot in Texas Airstream Harbor (TAHI). Little did I know at the time that, within days of that pic, I'd be buying us a different one. I don't know if all Airstream parks do this kind of thing, but here it's called the "TAHI shuffle" - newbies buy in, and over time, other lots become available, and they decide to move up to one they like better. Which we did, and our original lot is now for sale.

Here's the new lot, and you can see LB_3 in the screened porch. Shortly after I took this pic, the dog and I went back into the van, and I heard him yell at something, "HEY!" A raccoon was standing just outside the screened porch, wondering whether to invite himself in (there are no flies this time of year, so the door was standing open). This new lot looks out onto Angelina National Forest and Lake Sam Rayburn directly, so the critters are bolder in this location.

Nice upgrade.

And don't let the raccoon in (although he may invite himself inside if you have only regular screening). The are very determined and tough critters. Dumb though, when it comes to crossing roads. On our recent trip across the South, roadkill consisted of mostly them. Outnumbering all other types of dead critters combined.

This was the surprise I got when I pulled over to check my left rear tire after a false TPMS warning.




We found nice parks across the South with mostly full hookups. A nice change from out West.

After the previous photo, I thought I would show folks just how hard it is to weather a winter here in Texas. I took these photos at our Xmas rally last week. We were at Breckenridge Park, near Victoria, TX. Wonderful park with over a hundred paved sites, most full hookup, and a great meeting room. A dam on the Neches River creates the beautiful lake. Lots of birds and some gators. An armadillo was around our site just about all of the time, grubbing for worms. We had about 35 Airstreams attending. Notice the live oaks still in full leaf. They don't drop leaves until the spring buds push them off. Green all winter.

Sorry, the Lake Texana is on the Navidad River, not Nechez as I wrote. That was a brain fart.

The mouth is in Lavaca Bay, but the river is Navidad.

The following copied from the Breckenridge website ... Lake Texana is a reservoir on the Navidad River, 8 miles (13 km) east of Edna in Jackson County, Texas.

You're right. Lavaca confluences below the dam. It's actually the Navidad, McFarland Creek, Mustang Creek, and Devers Creek feeding into it.

It used to be Lake Texana State Park, but it was divested some years ago during a ridiculous state budgetary episode that I won't get into. Lake Houston State Park was turned over to the City of Houston and Montgomery County in the same time period.

Spent 3 great evenings at this incredible waterside campsite (#344) overlooking Western Bay. By day we biked the carriage trails of Acadia National Park which was a feast for the eyes and senses as they immersed you deep into this jewel of a park. The breathtaking & heart pounding carriage trail (bike path) decent's made the alternating grueling ascents worth every bead of sweat. Our maiden trip to this part of New England and our only regret was having to drive off (yes, Bar Harbor is an island) this national treasure to journey south toward Boston to visit our son there.

OK, one last photo perspective and I'll give it a rest...my better half enjoying some morning air, coffee & bird watching. This location, especially this particular campsite (#344), which in retrospect I believe was the best in the campground, was a treat!

Hi, yes the MagneShades will fit any Sprinter version (they have different templates based upon the model year.) There is lots of information on their website.

Arrived here at 43 degrees and blowing a gale. It awakened us with sleet on the roof the first night. Today, it is short sleeve weather (70s) and breezy.

We are at the point where the Colorado River (our Colorado) empties into the Gulf. We have over 30 Airstreams here. Really hard to be a Texan in this kind of weather!

Star party tonight and bird watching in the morning.
