MANSDERM161 - staying at brand new campgrounds is great coz all their infrastructure (outlets, breakers, water/sewer hookups, pool, and bath houses) are in great shape They have cabins here too which we may book when we have more people in van. This is still a working farm, so we can pick whatever veggies or fruit that they are growing this time of year.

Colorado is great. In the Glenwood Springs area, I would recommend Glenwood Canyon Resort - they have RV spots right next to the Colorado River in Glenwood Canyon. The Ouray KOA is a great little campground right outside Ouray. Next time I'm out that way I'm going to try to camp at the city park in Telluride right at the end of the main drag. Telluride was a really beautiful city as we drove through and up to Bridal Veil Falls (awesome to get up close to) and looked like a cool spot to spend a few days.

Probably should take this to a different thread, let me add a photo to comply with the thread's purpose
Anyway... thinking of taking Friday July 5th off from work and head out Thursday July 3rd after work. Just head out and go somewhere... and, because I did not planned in advanced, getting reservations will be a pita. So was just going to drive up the east coast and stop at Cracker Barrels along the way to sleep. Visit North Charleston and Myrtle Beach and from there visit Washington DC and come back home... with so few days, I do not think that I can do more...
Mandatory photo... showing that ladder position kind-off clears license plate

I have a friend flying in today. Will take her to see RV tomorrow and will stop in to see opening date of new place in case you want to try it out on your way. If you do come this way, there are a lot of campgrounds beachfront....they are huge, packed but possible openings if you wanted to stay beach front. I should be around...would be nice to meet you.

Are you serious? I've never seen anything like that at a campground. I need to head west!

Mandserm161 We are looking at sites near North Myrtle Bach for Sept 12-22 to attend the SOS shag dance Fall Migration event. We have stayed at Willow Tree RV near Longs because it’s not a bad drive to attend the daily workshops and events. We love it there but we’re wondering if the new RV resort would be a quicker drive to “the Main St” area. Since we tend to only sleep at the site we’re hoping to find the quickest, easiest location for the commute. Your insight would be appreciated.

You are a braver man than I. With prevailing temps, Crackerdocking will only be bearable from about 9 p.m. onward. The biggest challenge I have during my annual cross-country migration is fatigue - I have to keep driving solo until it is sane to stop for the night. And even then, it's never comfortable. I only do it because I have to, if I want to reach Canada.

Speaking of nice RV park bathrooms - the best one I've seen yet is at the new Route 66 RV Park just west of Albuquerque. Feast your eyes.
And to keep the AI photos flowing, the last pic is at the Plum Hill Winery in Gaston, Oregon, a Harvest Host location.

You just added a new verb to my vocabulary. Thank you. I'd like to add that "crackerdocking" may not be too far from being "crackerdog" in some instances.

Alex - Unfortunately, no personal services are offered there.
BTW, that RV park has a terrific Commons area... a building that has a big screen TV going, a pool table, coffee for the taking, and meeting facilities. This same building has the bathrooms, great laundry room, exercise room w/ equipment.
Oh, and another favorite bathroom is at the Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort near Sisters Oregon. Bathrooms are upscale, immaculate, and the entire shower area has a HEATED floor !! This park is my all time favorite so far, about $50 or so per night. They drive by and pick up your garbage each morning, the grounds are pool table flat, angled pull through spaces on asphalt, with beautiful grass in between. Decent spacing between sites, no gravel, no dirt. And pine trees. Heaven.

Norris Dam State Park
Excellent stopping over location on our journey south from OH headed to SC. Did not do any exploring, but if the immediate surroundings are indicative of the park as a whole, this is a beautiful place!

Paris Mountain State Park
[/IMG]
Our 2nd hop on our way down south from Ohio. This state park is in very picturesque (small) mountaintop location less than 15 minutes from downtown Greenville, SC. The downtown area of Greenville is an EXCELLENT place to spend an evening...we'd highly recommend it.
Something we'd not experienced before, after returning from our evening in downtown Greenville, maybe about 11:00pm and this park "closed" @ 9:00pm, we had to use a lock code we were given to unlock a padlock located on an iron swing gate, walk the gate open, drive the rig thru the gate, and then re-padlock the iron swing gate behind us...no big inconvenience, just an exercise that we had not done before...live & learn!

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina
[IMG] [/IMG]
"Beach Fix" Box Checked!
Located about 15 minutes from the main public access beach location (Coligny Beach Park) this RV Campground, um excuse me, resort, is really very nice. Great bath house facilities, two pools and an onsite restaurant (Sunset Grill); which we tried and it was excellent. All of the RV sites are slightly unique; ours had very nice wrought iron patio furniture that could host a party, literally seating for 10, plus a full size propane grill (FYI, Site #96). Although like you might expect this comes with a cost...all said & done about $90 for the single night we stayed.
Beach Parking Helpful Hint; there's a public parking lot catty corner from the roundabout at Coligny Beach and the sign at the entrance says "No RV's"; we took a chance since parking was at a premium and our AIGT Ext fit just fine. We did have to park near the rear of the lot where our backside could hang over the parking block...no issues at all.

TRONADORA - Had we not cancelled AM Solar trip, I would've gone out of my way and stayed at Bend Sisters Garden per your glowing recommendation. Hoping sometime this year yet.
