Pedal Box

Anyone here installed a Pedal Box on their Interstate? I've read up on the benefits but nowhere do I see any reports on their effect on fuel economy. I don't want to negatively effect my MPG.
Thanks

C21BILL - I do not have one. Benefits to a regular car of increase in throttle response maybe desirable, especially those who like to drive more dynamically or more aggressively (not to be confused with driving unsafely). But most modern sports cars or sports sedans or even luxury sedans already have this functionality. So my question is - would there be a need to drive the 11,000 lb. AI in the same dynamic or aggressive manner as cars 1/4 of the AI weight? I am pretty happy with the throttle response in mine. But I not sure if my 2017 Sprinter throttle response curve is mapped differently than your 2014, such that your unit can benefit from it?

Theoretically, modifying the throttle response does not affect fuel economy because you are not tuning the hp/torque curve differently. BUT, the modification ultimately changes one's driving style/habits to the more spirited driving style which will ultimately decrease your mpg.

I am not sure what the Pedal Box claims to do electronically to increase the response time, but I don't see how it can overcome a couple of mechanical time lags.
1) EGR valve closes when undergoing an acceleration. A clean EGR valve snaps close, and dirty one closely a bit slower. Pedal box can't speed this up.
2) It takes a while for the turbocharger to get up to speed. Higher exhaust temperatures and pressure spins the turbine faster, which allows the compressor to produce more pressure and flow, which allows more fuel to be injected, which provides more exhaust temperature and flow, which allows the compressor to produce more pressure and flow, … Variable Geometry Turbochargers (like used on the Sprinter and many other engines) helps to speed up this bootstrapping by making the turbocharger 'look smaller' during an acceleration. I don't see how the Pedal Box can speed it up further.

Maybe on some engines the slow response is due solely to how fast an accelerator movement gets translated into more fuel. But that's not the case here.
