DW grumps about our nice wet bath enough. A folding curtain bath as pictured would not get anywhere with her.

Ohh... had not noticed that. Nope, same here with us, must be a full wet bath. Wish ours was a tad bigger bug we manage well with existing one (specially after changing toilet). I though it was just existing one but only relocated in Mike's drawing. Enlarging photo I can see now that it is a different setup.
On other news. The rest of the stuff for the shelf should be here Friday. Will spend a few hours over the weekend doing the install.

I would like to have a ‘low bath’ setup- but rather than a curtain, the walls would raise up and down. So when in ‘toilet/shower mode’ it would look essentially as it does now, but when it ‘counter mode’ it would be just a mid-level counter top with an exposed window.
Of course this would include a lot more stuff to jam up and go wrong and more motors to actuate it etc. But having the open space and more windows would appeal to me.
Making the whole works out of aluminum would possibly keep the weight down and keep in the interior motif of the older AIs.
It would be nice if when in ‘extended’ mode that it engaged with a ceiling fan- keeping the bathroom fan usable.
The curtained ones don’t appeal very much to me, although functionally that would likely be a lot better, weigh less and be less trouble-prone.

LOTUS54 - I like your idea. It could be made to work without actuators, possibly with a counter-weight setup that would allow you to raise the walls manually.
I'll admit my wife has reservation about a low bath with shower curtain. She thought the Sportsmobile setup was acceptable. But at this point I'm only brainstorming ideas. The goal for my next van is not the "luxury" look of my Interstate. It will be more of a utilitarian look, but with better build quality.
Here are photos of the Sportsmobile setup.

Just ideas to further evolve what I am doing with the shelf... I like what they did here... if you look closely, the bottom border looks like the same 80/20 piece I am using and just a front panel covering the rest... limits the opening size and also my shelf is wider, with just less than an inch for the side walls...
I really need to get that sheet of plastic laminate in the Tommy finish to have it handy... would love to do something similar.
Also thinking of using 1/4" plexiglass in the same finish as the sliding doors in the front... a matte/frosted clear... for the bottom of the shelf.
12-3/4" x 55-3/4" insert...

if you want frosted lexan, have fun with it. Purchase the clear lexan, order custom cut decals, sandblast for a frosted finish, remove decals....

LB_3 - cool idea, but still undecided on what to use. Delay on shipment so can’t work on it this weekend. Parts should be here Monday.
In the meantime, removing rear wheels to find out what is the cause of the air leak in the inner wheel.
I wanted to try to do this with only what is included with the AI. Well, right away confirmed the recommendations shared by folks here. I will be adding a similar wood block as part of the toolkit.
Oh, and removing those nut covers was a PITA. At first I tried using a spark plug wire remover, but not enough grip to hold on tight to the cover. Managed to get them off with those pliers in the photos and some rubber covers to avoid scratching them.
And a video of the leak. Sure enough, as mentioned, it was improper install of valve stem and leaking via the rubber gasket.
Now to let the air out, try to separate the bead from rim and redo install... glad the folks that sold me the valves included spare rubber seals.

A few more...just for those like me that have not seen what it looks like without the wheels...
Will use a little bit of anti-seize on the hub to avoid the inner wheel rusting against the hub...

Was able to break the bead from the rim, woohoo!! Valve stem was loose! And I could tell no loctite was used
Removed. Cleaned. Replaced gasket/grommet. Applied loctite.
Then I dropped the washer inside the tire
Was lucky that by using the shopvac I was able to suck it out...
Everything installed and no leaks!! Meal break and then to mount the tires back. And forever have in the back of my mind that the same can happen to the other side... but those are not leaking and I do not want to remove the other tires today

And this is what is getting added to the toolkit. 1/2” x 12” extension, 19mm x 3/4” socket, 3/4” torque wrench, pliers with plastic protectors

I hope you used a jackstand when up on the jack...
Obviously you wan’t have one on the road- but I’m parinoid about stuff falling on me.
(I need to buy some ‘steel wheel’ lugnuts for mine- none are in with the Jack like are supposed to be. But that is for the T1N, I don’t know if the later ones needs special ones or not)

Our Journey Begins - 2018 AI TB Lounge
Very impressive and love the sharing of the details and photos. We are lucky you bought an AI and are a part of this community.
So I take it that is the spot for the jack... know we had some debate on a different thread.
If you had it to do over would you do the steel valve stems yourself?

Mark, I did not... and not for lack having them handy ... just did not cross my mind to grab them and place them under. Unsafe, I know.

No. I would still have payed for someone else to do them. But I would have asked to talk to the person doing it to remind them of the process, torque value, and use of the supplied Loctite...
Without the proper tools is a lot of work. I almost gave up trying to break the bead from the tire...

WACHUKO - Thank you for the detailed pics/destructions/instructions to do this. Glad I can see what that stuff looks like behind the dually without me having to take mine apart. I hope as heck I never have to do this ever. I need to get those boots for pliers.
For some reason, the MB supplied jacks (on the AI & my S-class) does not inspire confidence in me. I try not to use them if at all possible. It looks scary on AI

I too hope to never have to do this again
Bottle jack in the AI looks to be good quality. And it has an extension that you just pull up. I could have done without the wood block. But I imagined having to do this on the side of the road, and having a solid surface to place the jack is much better. So I made another one with a few spare 2x4 that I had. 7”x10” base and three 2x4 high (aprox 4.5”)
And yes, I have AAA, Airstream service, and all that... but dread someone that has no love for my rig work on it and damage something that I could have done myself with lots more care....

I would love to be your neighbor Wachuko [emoji6]! I imagine the longish valve stems with attached TPMS can put a lot of stress on the rubber grommets in motion huh [emoji44]?

WACHUKO - I doubt it, especially now that you have done it once successfully and just the fact that you do 99% of the work on your rig. For me, unless I was stuck on side of remote road with a flat, I will probably wait for tow truck.
Having said that, I think all this work prep, added tools, etc. would be your big justification to cross off one big item from your
"Wishlist:
Self-leveling system
Quiet A/C from Advanced RV"
and just bite the bullet & pay the $6.5k entrance fee to get the E&P Getting it eliminates the jack, blocks, leveling ramps, and will be such a frequently used option for you since you do so much of the work yourself. Not to mention hoping the jacking location issues on the road works as safely as on your driveway. I don't do 1/8 of the work you do under the AI and I already think the E&P has more than paid for itself in the stuff it's done for us. Pic below shows my AI last week on a gravel campsite with complex fore/aft & lateral slope angles. But E&P has all 6 tires lifted off the ground. It was so high off ground the gap in wheelwell is more than on 4X4 models

There is a rubber insert that you install in the rim to provide support. That helps. See photo
