Onan Voltage Sense Fault—Code 27

We replaced the Onan with the new quiet HGLAA model. They seem to be readily available now and the new one produces much less noise than the old HGJBB models. All good except that today the AI is out with a renter who reports that the new unit runs for 1 minute and then shuts down with error code 27. In the old model this translates to "Voltage Sense Fault (Controller Unable to Sense Voltage Output)". If the Microwave breaker is turned off the generator and the air conditioner run normally. Anyone had a similar experience with either model generator?

Does the 'we replaced' mean you did it yourself, or hired it done? In either case would appreciate as much detail as you can provide on how easy it was to swap. Specifically, were the dimensions, mounting brackets, and fuel, electrical, exhaust connection points all in the same place? Where did you find it to be readily available? The few places I found that model it was listed as 'currently unavailable'. One even listed it as 'discontinued' and referred me to the older HGLAA.

Could it be shutting down because they're trying to run the ac and microwave simultaneously and the gen can't handle both loads?

There is a great Cummins/Onan service in Simi Valley, CA called Scandinavian Service. He buys directly from Onan and was able to have one in a couple of days but your mileage may vary. For the installation, apparently there is a new mounting bracket for the unit but it wasn't available so he managed to "adjust" the old mounting bracket. He purchased a new connector for the electrical and added a new exhaust pipe extension. We did not replace the remote generator start unit inside the van. Total costs were about $3200 for parts and $700 for labor plus tax, etc.

Update on the Onan Code 27: I logged on to Cummins/Onan QuickServe portal and found the attached service bulletin. There is a potentially faulty connector that causes the Code 27.
