As a former resident of CA for some twenty years in various locations and from '74-'76 and then again from '79-'97, I absolutely love the place... the entire state from shore to state line and international border to Oregon. I've lived in NoCal, SoCal, and visited most That said, most of the wonderful things about living there have been negated by the sheer numbers of people who now occupy the formerly empty spaces of CA.

Pollution, lines, traffic, and social decay have made the state an Ok place to visit every few years, but not one I'd care to live in any more. Quite frankly, that's my opinion of most of the major metro areas in the country now.

In Utah,smog tests are required in metro counties ie: Salt Lake, Utah, but not in the rural counties.
