New model generator.

I have a 2020 Interstate My new generator came in and was just installed. It is night and day from the old model. Extraordinarily quiet. Does not surge and does run my air conditioner without the easy start ( which I do plan to install). One thing new I noticed is a 90 second countdown on the coach display to when the load will be applied. When shut generator off and connect to shore power there is also a 90 second countdown before shore power will come on. So far very pleased

Sounds like the action of a surge protector. I have an external one on my trailer that waits 120 seconds before applying power. I believe it is to ensure the power is stable before turning it on. Flipping power on and off can damage things like the air conditioner.

Would you happen to have a model number and link of the generator you purchased?

Hi

I believe we are talking about the new Onan 2500 .... It is indeed quiet compared to the older model. Compared to something like a Honda 2200 ... not so much. At least that's true of the one I have on my van.

Hi

Yup, that's what they are putting on the new vans. It's the replacement for the previous Onan LP generator. In addition to being a bit more quiet, it also uses less propane under certain operating conditions. They have been a bit hard to find in stock ....

Bought directly from Cummins Onan and had it installed at their shop. Took around three hours. It is night and day compared to my old unit. Lot quieter and burning less propane.
