My experiences are limited enough to not know enough to compare. I will be interested in hearing more about the Garmin. What are the features of MBUX you like and why?
Thanks!

The level of OEM integration and reliability is excellent. Love “hey Mercedes” voice control, which works great. 4G data service built in. Touch screen and also controllable using touch/buttons on steering wheel. Excellent OEM navigation. Beautiful wide display. Sirius/XM interface is great. Mercedes driver assistance systems accessible through it (not sure how these would be replaced with an aftermarket system). It boots up immediately, it’s fast, and has been rock solid reliable. Same system that’s used in Mercedes luxury cars... I just don’t think an aftermarket system could compare. I’m shocked that with Airstream always ordering every Sprinter option that MBUX would be deleted.

It is great to see that Airstream has continued to use the highest quality components available in the new Interstate. The "paper brake lever label" on the dash is proof of no expense spared

Change to the Garmin unit looks like a result of material shortages (which doesn't appear to be improving anytime soon).
Thanks for the great review!

Looks like the infotainment controls on the steering wheel are completely gone... just a flat gloss black cover where they used to be on the right side.

WOW! If I were ordering a MB car, this definitely be a deal breaker. We are scheduled to pick ours up in a couple of weeks. I really hope that I am not disappointed.

You should be able to get the Mercedes chassis VIN number from the dealer ahead of time, then you can use a decoder like mb.vin to get a list of the build details.
Although you may want to not do that to spoil the excitement of a new AS.

That “new” dash is pretty hideous. It’s all in your face because it’s supposed to showcase the MBUX, but instead you get a flat screen. I don’t really care about MBUX per-se, but when the entire dash is designed to feature something that’s not even there, one winds up with this visual abomination instead. No, thanks.

Hi
Unless things have changed, the MB chassis come in from Germany. They get ordered *way* ahead of their expected "need" at the AS factory. Any change in configuration should only impact stuff that still is chugging through the factory in Germany. Is there a 3, 6 or 12 month lag in this process? Who knows ... ( at one time 12 months was the correct answer ).
