Still looking for help on my 2023. Understand all the hype going forward but some of us just need to jump in now.

In our case it was probably quite a bit of work because the Victron 3kW unit won’t fit where AS put the OEM unit. We had it done professionally, so I didn’t do that work myself.

Bumping up the charger amperage

In theory this can be done from directly from the Xantrex control panel. However, whether due to defect or design, I found most of the settings on my original 1000 wouldn’t allow any change. It was one of the factors that prompted me to switch to a 2000. Since I was going to have to go to the trouble of removing and replacing the 1000 anyway, it made more sense to me to upgrade in the process. Here’s a whole thread on that:

Just watched a video interview with Justin Humphreys, Airstream VP of Sales. He confirms that warning light is for step and awning at 10:10 in the linked video.

Not surprised. Most salespeople are clueless when it comes to details about the features.

Can you provide more details on CZone Macro/Favourites programming? I have looked at the CZone site and it seems like there isn't an easy way to achieve that? Do you need their special USB to CAN interface? Software tools?

Back to my original OP questions -

Assume you have to lock and unlock the I19 with the key fob and that there is no keyless entry?

We have two Super Bags, but have never zipped them together. The bags have different filler thickness on each side for summer and winter use. I would think that might make zipping them together challenging. RV Super Bags are also available in larger two person versions.

Watched a YouTube video and saw that the zipper goes both sides and bottom. Looks like a good design. The ottomans out partially with the seat down looks like an okay fit. I’m sold.

Unless something changed from the 2022, plugging into shore power doesn’t charge the chassis battery. I ended up adding an additional 50 watt solar panel (the 2023 already has this) to help keep the chassis charged. It made a huge difference.

Really? I sure thought it did. I copied the Airstream setup when I added our 50A Victron Buck Boost as we lost charging capability to our chassis battery when I removed the PC LI-BIM 225. It’s setup so that when I’m tied to shore power, the BatteryMinder under the passenger seat charges up the chassis battery. I also added a Solar BatteryMinder with a small solar panel to trickle charge it just like Airstream did. Of course just to have redundancy I also added a trickle charger from our Victron 3k with an on/off switch just in case.

So I believe that your chassis battery should be charging when you’re tied to shore power via the BatteryMinder. When tied to shore power, all of your AC outlets should be live. I took a look at both the 22 and 23 regular AI19’s wiring diagrams and both show that they have a regular BatteryMinder. The 22’s show a SolarMinder and the 23’s looks to be some type of Solar Zamptype minder.

Then again I’m also not sure if Airstream somehow tied it to the house battery charger to charge the house batteries first just because they like to do odd things like that. It makes sense that both of these shouldn’t be tied together but again - this is Airstream!

On our 2023 I19 w/E1, the chassis battery is charged when plugged in to shore power via the BatteryMinder under the front seat. The E1 models do not have the solar battery minder that was included previously.

On the E1 the 250W of solar on the roof only charges the Volta battery, none is dedicated to the chassis battery.

The dealer techs appear to be a little overwhelmed with the all of the changes among all the AS models - both coaches and travel trailers, especially on the electrical/electronics front. I've found it best to consult the latest revision of the owners manual available online, or reaching out to AS itself for clarification.

cactusjk, call your Airstream dealer that your purchasing your unit from and confirm this. It makes no sense that Airstream would add a BatteryMinder to it when it won't charge your chassis battery. Please reply back here after you speak with them so that other folks could benefit from this info. Thx.

I previously spoke with both the Mothership and my dealer about this. They both confirmed (for the 2022) that the Chassis is not charged from Shore Power. I inquired because I noticed that the Chassis was getting low after about 10 days, even when plugged in, if not driven. Their explanation was that only the Battery Minder is only being used to manage the charge from the solar panel. As I mentioned earlier, once I added an additional 50 watt panel, I no longer had any issues. On the 2023, Airstream increased the solar to 100 watts for the Chassis, so I wouldn't expect the OP to have issues unless they store the vehicle under cover for an extended period.
