Need 19 AWD exact height

My barn door is 9’-9 3/4”. Airstream says the height of a 2024 AWD 19 is 9’-9”. I’m not gambling $200k hoping it fits. I need someone to check the overall height at the AC for me.

Seems like you will gambling based on the hit-or-miss advice of some other random internet user and their ability to accurately measure the height, which is not that straightforward to do. Also their tires may be worn or low on air. Or they may have a loaded RV. All of which could make their measurement seem like it'd fit. Seems too close to me.

Can you go to your local AS dealer and take one for a test drive to verify the height?

I agree with the other responses. You're asking someone to measure the height of their rig within a tolerance of a bit over 1/2 of 1% and betting $200K on the result. Uh-uh.

Getting hold of an AWD 19 to test in person is the only safe way to proceed. If it's close you can decide if letting air out of the tires temporarily to get it into your garage or making some sort of minor modification to the opening are practical solutions.

Also is your entry level? Could make an inch or more difference.

Hi

Hot tires vs cold tires could make a difference. At 3/4", a bit of caulk or a washer or two might soak up a good chunk of the "free space".

If the current version of the 19 has air leveling, that's a couple inches of change at the rear end and likely more than your 3/4" at the high point.

Simple answer is to take a look at the barn door and see what it'll take to change things by a few inches. Either raise the top of the door or dig out the floor. Lots of folks have done that sort of thing. It's claimed that it can even be done without injury. I have data on doing it, but not on the "without injury" part.

Just a thought. I have the same issue. Try mounting a laser using a ruler touching the lowest part of your door where the air conditioner is. Line up your AS and check with the laser.

WOW. Thanks to everyone giving advice. The AS dealer drove a new 2024 AWD 19 Tommy to our ranch and we found out the overall Height was about 9'10-1/2" ..not 9'9" like in the specs. It would not have fit in our barn! From other sources, it appears AS used a new, taller air conditioner starting in 2023. So, it's back to a 2024 RWD drive Tommy.

I’ve heard of people having to remove the AC hard cover to get in a space. That’s said Airstream is changing AC vendors weekly it seems. The shape and profile of the unit can make difference. Dometic Coleman GE what’s next?

Hi

When they drove the "example" over, how much water and fuel was in the various tanks? If you get into the "fraction of an inch" range, that also will matter.

The real point being that if you come home one day with everything dry and it "just fit" with a normal fill .... that 0.528" clearance may be gone.

For storage "any sort of roof" gets you 90% of the way there. Simply keeping the snow, hail, ice, and rain off of the vehicle is what keeps them happy. Yes, that assumes you have the land to do something on ....
