Check your Neutral coming out of ATS and going into Main Neutral Buss bar. Make sure all Neutrals are good & tight. If you don't have any loose Neutrals, then you may have a defective PCS EMS. Diagram above.

The Neutral coming out of ATS 1st goes into the PCS EMS before it comes back out to the Neutral Buss Bar that services all the breakers. If that is open, then your appliances are only working by the grace of God - ok, not really - but by the grace of NEC (Grnd)

The Neutral will come out of ATS to the PCS EMS and loop inside the doughnut (#5 in pic).

You are doing the right thing by addressing this, despite missing out on the the nice beach scenery. You don't want this issue coz you are essentially using your reserve parachute now.

PM'ing you my cell is you want to call.

One last diagram from Precision Circuits. Probably too much info than you will need but a much bigger picture so you can see the whole setup. Concentrate on following the White Neutral wires (Grey in diagram) for this issue.

PS - don't delay too much. Losing Neutral is a serious issue, just as bad as open Grnd. (if that's the problem and not just a defective current sensor in PCS EMS) And your Progressive won't catch it because it is downstream of it's tests.

Alex, thank you for the call.

All connections were fine...nice and tight...nothing missing and everything connected correctly.

Covered everything back and will continue to enjoy the time here. Appointment made (all they had was September 30).

WACHUKO - You welcome. Just a thought - you might as well call or email Precision Circuits Tech Support. They can probably get you fixed up way before Sept. 30.

Alex, the only test pending is to check continuity on the neutral wire that goes through the coil...

On the way back home... we just stopped to make lunch and running the generator... it detects that the Generator is the source but same issue... not displaying amp settings under it... has to be that pickup coil that is bad or the wire...

Thank you for the contact information. I will call them tomorrow...

WACHUKO - Yep, its gotta be the coil amperage sensor. Or the data connection to the display panel, but thats a long shot if display works otherwise. Forgot to ask you if same result with gen, but I figure you would test it on gen eventually. It weird it detects the gen & shore but yet says NONE for both. These hi-tech stuff sometimes gets too smart for their own good, this coming from a lifetime techie Good luck on fix.

Father-in-law live with us... He retired from the power company 25+ years ago... you would not believe the old tools that I have at home.... It was one of his tools that I used to crimp the thick battery wires when I added the two batteries in the back... that thing (as well as this meter) had not been used in over 20 years!!!

I need to share a photo of the leather case that meter is stored in

WACHUKO - tell him I used to work for HP starting in early 70's and still have the old Hewlett Packard Test & Measurements equipment used by many power providers. He'll know what I'm talking about. Lucky you.

Oh boy that got him talking... for many years he working in the main distribution center... there was (still is) a wall to wall map with a live diagram and working lights of the whole grid... He went on talking about the different test system and measuring equipment used. It made for a great evening with him last night. Thanks.

Back to this issue. Email sent with photos to PCI... they were quick to respond. Got a call back and hour later after sending the email. Too bad I was not in the AI. They gave me a list of things to check:

Measure voltage between L1 & Neutral - should be 120 volts ;

Measure voltage between L2 & Neutral - should be 120 votls ;

Unit needs to see this voltage there to work

Check RJ-11 type data cable... he was adamant in making it clear that it was not a phone cable... looked like one but it was a data cable... Check that all wires where seated properly on the connector...

Check all neutral wires to make sure a wire cover was not impeding proper contact.

So I will do that and reply back to them. They encouraged calling while I was in the AI doing this to get faster to the culprit...

Great service from them.

WACHUKO - funny they mentioned the data connection cable also. When I mentioned it to you, I thought that a long shot, but they must seen failures before.

You might PM Hawkination. I think he/she just replaced the some part of the PCI PCS, and that solved their problem - which was erroneous (impossible high) current readings.

TITUS - she did mention that in one of her PM to me - impossibly high current, unless of course, she got the '1.21 gigawatt flux capacitor' unofficial AI upgrade Afterall, her unit came with VB Air which was not officially available in that MY AI.
