Mercedes Grill

I have a 2010 Sprinter 3500 with a crack on th grill cover. It is an early 2010 with a Freightliner grill. Will the later year grill with the Mercedes emblem fit? If so, will I need to modify anything?

I believe it will. Check w/ the aftermarket suppliers or ebay who can probably say for sure.

Would that part not be covered by the warranty?

aa9zz,

My guess is that it would; just a straight forward switch-out replacement.

I bought my new 3500 Cab and Chassis in 2006. Those were the days of Daimler Chrysler and the trucks were badged DODGE then. I didn't know why a Mercedes built in Dusseldorf, Germany should masquerade as a Dodge so replaced the grill. Easy. Just a few nuts and bolts.

There was some sort of partnership between Mercedes and Chrysler in those days, stemming from Daimler's involvement with both companies. Not only was the Sprinter sold in the US with the Dodge branding (and the Dodge Ram van was concurrently taken off the market), but the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager quit using Mitsubishi engines in favor of using Mercedes gasoline engines.

Check this thread on the Sprinter-Source Forum: Converting Dodge to Mercedes Grill P1 - Sprinter-Forum
This one starts life as a Dodge but the process should be similar to your Freightliner.
