Macerate shut off

Does the macerator shut off on itself when the holding tank is empty?

Definitely not. And they warn you in the manual not to let it run dry for more than a few seconds, otherwise you may burn out the motor.
When you see bubbles in the hosepipe, that is the time to stop it.
And remember, empty the black tank first, then close the black valve and empty the grey tank. One tank at a time.
