Email sent to Garmin (did not have the serial handy when I was trying to send the email a few days ago)... Will call during the week if I do not hear from them in a few days.

Fusion Garmin system malfunction
We had picked up the brand new 2019 Interstate Nineteen from Arbogast in Troy, OH. I had the same experience as the others posting above....don’t use the USB port above the Fusion unit to charge your phone or pad or anything.
We used it and soon after, the Fusion navigation system kept shutting off and on.
It finally died....so we drove the last 600 miles to New Jersey with no radio, no navigation, nothing.
I couldn’t figure out how I could remedy the situation. The Fusion is powered by the house battery, so I turned on the Battery Disconnect switch.....that shut off all power to the house and to the Fusion.
I turned the Battery Disconnect off to restore a connection to the House Battery....the Fusion rebooted and it works fine!
I recommend getting a 2-3 USB port cigarette type charger to use on 12 volt receptacle near the floor up front to charge your devices: iPhones, iPad, etc.

I've had this happen twice on my 2018, and both times, a "patch" was installed. I personally don't trust the darn thing, so I carry a back up Garmin and use my phone. I travel alone and they never go crazy at a convenient time. I can do without the radio but need a GPS. I was never able to get the updated maps to install either. I did the software update. Whatever the "patch" is, it gets it working for a while.

Did you have Sirius radio on at the time? My issue was I was playing Sirius radio and I was forced to reboot in order to change the channel. I was told that Garmin was working on a fix because the Sirius module didn’t have sufficient cooling space and would overheat causing the channel changing issue. They were going to work on a fix where if it overheated, it would automatically reboot. If you did not have Sirius on then this may not be revenant.

No, I did not have a radio on, and it just started doing it again...3rd time trying to reboot! I drive in total silence.....over 15K miles now because I don't trust the damn thing and obviously it can't be trusted. I was heading back from Hot springs (1000 miles) when it started again. I drive with my phone programmed and a back up Garmin....those 2 are reliable, the Fusion is not. Maybe I should just forget about the navigation and just use it as a radio....not sure what else to do with it.

MANSDERM161 - Not sure if you seen the Fusion version 3.80 thread yet. But if you are this deeply frustrated with Fusion, might be worth your time to update to this latest version. Cant hurt at this point. I updated to 3.80 few weeks ago and just few days ago, 6 more updates became available. I know these latest updates fixed my clock sync problem. Plus you will get RV Maps 2019.20. Good luck.

So I got the micro SD, GOT IT formatted in the rig, went to Garmin express, said it could take 3 hours, but it seems to be freezing up at 49.9% complete in the software download, says downloading at 11MB/S . It says time remaining 3 minutes but it hasn't budged in 30 minutes. Anyone else have this problem. I will admit I have crappy internet as it is provided thru homeowners assoc. The SD was new 32GB San disk ultra plus.

MANSDERM161 - Sorry for the troubles you are experiencing. I have not had Garmin Express freeze like that on me. I have gone through the downloading of updates files process 7 times since 3.80 came out (and subsequent updates) because I wanted to have them in different usb sticks in case 1 did not work. However, I have not used micro SD at all.
I agree, the hanging up of this sorts (not just Garmin Express) is usually to be blamed on connection issues. Slow is not the problem but dropping the connection, especially multiple times is the issue. If connection is really bad, I would even try HOTSPOT'ing your computer to your cell phone (if your cell connection is reliable and you have a good size data allocation for Hotspot connections).

MANSDERM161 - I do not know if using 32GB card affects it's time/speed to completion coz I do not know if it validates the entire 32GB in the process or just the space that it uses. The update procedure says minimum of 500MB free space and no larger than 32GB card, so your card should work.
I have only used 8GB and 16GB sticks coz that's what I have laying around. The few hangups I saw was on the Fusion end when it would say "Update failed, please re-insert card"
Good luck.

Success! Thank You! Had to use hot spot for consistent internet connection to download update. Did have to reinsert micro card once during installation. I never did get mine to update with reg. Usb but the micro SD worked great. Looking forward to trying it out.

MANSDERM161 - Great news. Let's hope it fixes the issues you were running into. Mine has been stable, though admittedly I use GPS (Fusion gps or phone gps) not as frequently. Keep us posted.

I hoped it " learned a few things" about roads. I take same road to and from storage and it always says "recreational vehicle accessibility unknown." And it's a normal paved road with no over or under passes.

FYI - it will do that if it's a private road and/or i.e. gated community. That's what it does inside ours and daughter's streets as soon as it enters the gates. And will never learn it either Kinda dumb & smart that way

Garmin express download. It was part of whole process. I used micro SD and plugged it into from SD slot on the front of the fusion. I could not do upgrades via USB OR USB port in the compartment above fusion.

WACHUKO - still could not figure that out myself how ORLIK & MANSDERM161 got VIM 2.90 . I am afraid to call Garmin Support to ask about VIM 2.90 coz they may figure out my unit got un-nanny'ed maybe by accident and they may force me to nanny-up I prefer to stay un-locked even though it has not been a need for me.
