Interstate Grand Tour Teak Shower Mat

Was looking for a bathroom shower mat and found one made from teak on the Airstream store. Price was a little steep ($260 plus shipping) for me. So I decided to make one myself from a couple of old broken teak chairs that I had laying around. I have a small wood shop and a 2019 interstate gt, so I proceeded to make a template out of some cardboard that I pulled out of the recycle bin. Then I got to work disassembling the chairs. It was great to recycle these, as they were far beyond repair with too many broken slats. I milled all the teak chair wood (looked like brand new wood!) to size. Finally got enough slats and bottom support rails to start assembly. I used some stainless steel 316 marine grade screws To put everything together. Then I used the cardboard template and cut the mat to size to fit the GT bath floor. I also applied some Life Grip Anti Slip water tape on the bottom of the floor slats so not to mark up the bath floor. Wallah..... everything fit perfect!

We have a teak mat that came with our used unit, but it rocks back and forth in the shower pan. I tried applying extra layers of shower floor safety tape to the short edges, but it still rocks. May have to get rid of it and try something else, though I don't really want to, because it looks nice. I guess I could try sanding down the long edge that's causing the rocking, but that will probably take a while since I don't really have the right tools. Ah well, 1st world problems.

I have a teak mat that I bought for my Lounge and rebuilt to fit my GT. I bought some pool cue rubber handle-end bumpers
and screwed them to the bottom with SS screws so that it rests on the rubber pads. It is very stable.
