None of us are ever 100% safe. But there is a huge risk difference between 18 people gathered around an indoor stove, and a small collection of beer-drinking fools basking in the outdoor prevailing wind at 20 feet apart.
For precision, I just measured the distance on GoogleMaps. I was closer to 20 feet away, not 15. And what was downwind of me was Lake Sam Rayburn.

It can be done...gathering safely...is the bottom line.
I think we would be a very interesting group, quite honestly.
Great minds and good cooks, with a shared love of Interstates.

I agree with Maggie. We've done a lot to our 2013 Interstate over the years and meeting and talking about mods would be interesting.

Well, I can see the Interstate interest here...lets hope you are able to pull it off...and that we segregated, un-invited, AS trailer owners, are not seated down-wind after the beer kicks in! (just kidding of course!)

Interstate get-together
I’m interested if there is one not too far from where I live. (Notice I said get-together, not rally.... less formal, I think!)

Interested in an informal rally
yes, we would be interested in an interstate get together . There are sooo many places to see and they can be seen while socially distanced and upwind too. Mississippi has many places to go and see with weather that is not bad between hurricanes.

When I read the original post, I thought you wanted to have rallies along the interstate. . Go thru the (maybe) the Facebook Interstate page if there is one. Always draws interests.

I had to look up where Lucedale is. Heck, if you were in Natchez, you would only be 200 miles from Zavalla TX - an easy drive. But you are wa-ay to the east side of MS.
EDIT: The pandemic is increasingly off the hook, a fact that I am sure is not lost on you fine people. Last night, LB_3 and I heard from someone who has been actively engaged with Sprinter and B Van Forum. We took up an email exchange off-forum but we suddenly stopped hearing from him - no biggie, we assumed he was simply continuing with his life and we'd get back to chatting later. Turns out he was 13 days incapacitated with COVID-19. He did not catch it at an Airstream function, but he was pretty much the last person I suspected might end up with a serious infection. But there it is - yet another person known to us who was seriously impacted.

Yes! However personally for us remaining "regional" meaning probably <250 miles from our home base (Cincinnati) would be preferable. Given we've only been RV'ing for about 2 years we allot our week long+ get-aways for US destination trips, for which we have many boxes yet to check.

Clarification on this incident below. A few of you asked me off-forum for more details of what happened, and I responded. The WBCCI units released a statement on social media today, and here is a re-post FYI:
***
As many of you know, the Texas Plains Unit, had our Officer Installation rally in late October. The wonderful hosts planned a rally with social distancing in mind. The plan was to meet outside Amarillo in our host’s airplane hangar. The doors would be kept open and we were to bring our own chairs and plan to spread apart outside. All breakfasts and dinners were provided by hosts, meaning there would be no need for anyone to go into town to a restaurant. All activities were planned at the hangar with no need to go anywhere else around the city. The rally was significantly shortened, to arrival on Thursday evening and departing Sunday morning. We all boondocked around the hangar so no one needed to go to an RV park. All social distancing rules were planned to be followed to keep us safe.
There were 7 units plus our two hosts who attended. There were 16 of us who were members of our unit who attended the entire weekend. We did have a couple of visitors who came, some only came during the day or came for only one meal to meet the group.
Plans don’t always work out, an important lesson here. Due to a sudden change in the weather, the hangar doors had to be closed and all activities had to be moved inside. But still we were surprised when our friend and unit member, Dick Lanham, let us know on the following Tuesday that he had tested positive for COVID 19. By Wednesday most of us knew we were also ill. Of the 16 of us who attended, 13 of us were eventually found to have the virus. Thankfully none of our guests became ill.
But our dear friend, Dick, passed away later the next week, leaving his beloved wife, Sherri and children and grandchildren. Others have spent days in the hospital and others continue as of this date to still have after effects from being sick. I am writing this to let you know the facts and also as a cautionary tale to those of you who think you have everything planned for safety. We don’t want you to have to deal with the repercussions [as] we are [doing]. Stay safe out there!

The lessons in it go beyond a typical public service sound bite:
Number one, if you get a positive test, inform everyone else in your circle IMMEDIATELY, because early medical care is very important to a good COVID-19 outcome.
Imagine if this man had hesitated to disclose. Rally-goers would have started falling sick - and probably spreading - with no clue as to what was developing. One of Dick’s last acts on earth was to do exactly the right thing - he sounded the alarm among his friends so that they could take action.
Number two, which is an adjunct to number one, viruses follow the rules of biology, and woe to anyone who anthropomorphizes them.
There is a trope in popular media which suggests that superspreaders are oblivious, ignorant souls who go skipping merrily through society without a thought in their heads for the welfare of their fellow man. “It’s their fault, it’s all their fault!! They just don’t care!!“ Is there anyone whose social media feed is NOT chock full of those kinds of vicious accusations?
No, that’s an inappropriate way of imposing a moralistic overtone, and it’s not how transmission always happens. In this case, based on the information on the table, the decedent and the superspreader appear to have been one and the same. He was reportedly diagnosed 24 hours before anyone else realized they might be getting sick, which means he was probably tested 48 hours before anyone else, given that it typically takes a bare minimum of 24 hours to get a test result these days. And he was known to be a good man who cared about other people. Something simply went wrong with a virus that defies our ability to detect or control it.
If we cling to moralizing tropes like the image of the bar-hopping superspreader, “Oh if we just avoid those reckless people everything will be fine”, no, it won’t necessarily be fine. The virus spreads as it spreads, even among the most responsible of souls.
