Insurance Mileage Question

OK, the good news. I got my annual renewal from National General and it is the same as it has been for the last 2 years $750.

The bad news is, I read the renewal terms this time and I have 7,000 miles annual.

I currently have 20,xxx in 23 months Uh Oh...

So, in my mind, if I were to have a claim now they could theoretically deny coverage. If I call them will they raise my premium for the last year? I think I will find out tomorrow.

How many miles is your insurance good for and are you in compliance?

Just give them your current mileage to start the clock over.

I am probably repeating myself here from other threads, but I decided to outsource all my insurance questions to Ron Jarvie, an agent who only sells RV policies. He was recommended by someone else on Air Forums and he's really good. No bull comes out of him and he takes the time to explain things.

For me, it wasn't worth saving a hundred or two hundred here or there on a policy for a vehicle in which we have invested so much of our lives, not to mention cash. I want straight stories about my options; I want to make conservative decisions where gray areas manifest. I wouldn't want to chance a coverage denial on any kind of technicality or ambiguity or mis-match of circumstances.

I have never been limited or asked my mileage for trailer insurance. I have had Foremost and currently Progressive. Must be another strange Kalifornia thing.

No limit. But insurance is regulated by the state, so the same coverage by the same company in a different state can have different caveats and addenda.

When I was working for a living my commuting distance was a factor for my daily driver, but now that I'm retired miles per year is not a factor for either vehicle.

Progressive. But here's the weird thing - somehow I wasn't able to get the deal as an individual that he was able to get as an agent. And we already had Progressive on my husband's daily driver (we each had different insurance companies prior to marriage and we just kept them). Nevertheless, Progressive wasn't doing me any favors. Until I got an agent.

Because I use our Interstate for some "non-vacation-related" travel, I put a full-timer policy on it at Ron's recommendation. It only cost about another $200 per year. Again, it was a case of me not wanting to be caught in a potential situation that was non-compliant with my policy and therefore putting me at risk of denial. That would have been penny-wise-pound-foolish.

OK, my insurance goes up substantially by increasing the mileage.

Increased to:

10,000 miles $878/year
12,000 miles $1015/year

I am checking another insurance company now.
