Installing AS Connected in a 2023 Interstate 19 Questions

Getting ready to install a AS connected modem in our 2023 I19.

1.Need to know where the pre-wired power comes from and what amp fuse it has?

2. Will be using Verizon which is what we use for phones. Any recommendations on adding a data plan on top of our existing plan?

For us AS Connected was not worth the money and the limitations.
There are other options using the majority for already installed components,..

First, though you may see a power connector in the router box behind the drivers seat, odds are it is not connected at the fuse box. However, this wire is present under the ottoman behind the 12' fuse box. So check it out. I'd suggest getting your own peplink router and avoiding the airstream system. For data, if you just periodically need internet, consider the $10 per month / 30GB plan by Tmobile. Im using the MAX BR1 pro.

Is it easiest to connect power to the fuse panel under the driver’s seat?

I agree and T-Mobile’s actually running a special right now you will get 2-30 GB cards for the price of one and you can find a standalone pin router for four to $500 to be on 5G.

Easiest to find the fuse that Supplies power to the airstream connected wiring your owners, manual high wiring diagram. There are 12 V options and 120 V options. On our interstate it’s actually wired through the key switch in the aisle way same style of key switch thats used for the battery heaters.

I have a ‘22, so not sure if they moved them under the ottoman for ‘23, but the (2) white wires that were connected to the barrel power connector were located behind the electrical cabinet panel, along with the other end of the yellow Cat5 cable. The “24 hr power” wire is also labeled and in the cabinet. I added a push button power switch to the panel so I can turn the router off if needed. Also, the new Peplink did not have the round barrel 12v connector, so I bought a pigtail w/ the correct connector, and wired it in after cutting off the crimp connectors under the wood tray behind the driver seat. The two rt pins looking at the back of the router are for +12v, upper left is -, lower left is unused. Some photos attached (I think).

3On - got your PM, but I’m a newbie and not allowed to reply back w/ a PM. Happy to help! I’d spent about 3 hours searching here and elsewhere for the answer to where the wires originated, so hopefully the pics and info will save others some time. Problem is that they tend to move things each model year.

Also adding - I did the set up of the Peplink in my shop, using the supplied 110v adapter and antennas. Glad I did, because my SIM was not activated by Verizon when I received it, so I had to give them a call to get things rolling. Took about 1/2 hr from unboxing to going live.

Seems like it has a good range of about 30’ away from the vehicle. We used it on a trip to Hocking Hills, and we had good reception. We were able to stream via Roku, and use our tablets, despite the heavy tree cover and mountains.

The 2023 is different. Sounds like the dealer’s were told to find power on their own.

It also sounds like it should be on a circuit that is live only when the vehicle is on. Not sure why that is and wonder if on shore power will it be on?

Hi

Have a 2021 Classic. Strongly recommend you do not install AS Connected. Because:

1. The system does not work well at all
2. The modem they install is seriously underpowered for the task
3. You will not get wifi with it
4. it is a serious data hog
5. It is very overpriced

I tore my system out. Replaced it with a better modem. Czone can be reconfigured to give you virtually all the functionality. You will get wifi. If you are installing from scratch, go 5G. You can get a system from any Peplink distributor. I used Mobile Must Have.

Good luck

I am super disappointed in not being able to upgrade my A/S connect without running new wires.

in my excitement to get up and running did it live in van. It took twice as long plus laptop to get into admin side to smooth over the installing.
