Help with 2018 Airstream Interstate Support
I am happy to say after a few years of no Airstream ownership, (we previously had a 27' Eddie Bauer), we are soon to be new owners of a 2018 AS Interstate 4x4 GT.
The original purchase date was Sept 27 2017 (about 2 years ago). The second owner purchased it on January 2018.
The current second owner has allowed us to take the 2018 Interstate to a Certified AS Dealership to have it inspected prior to purchase. He was the second owner, as the first owner only had it for 4 months. If purchased, we will be the 3rd owner.
The only major thing so far found wrong, is that the Fusion RV-IN801 head units Bluetooth and Wifi no longer worked after Airstream of Las Vegas applied the latest firmware update in April 2019 with the 2nd owner. After contact with Fusion / Garmin Tech support, they state and emailed an official letter that indeed it needs to be replaced as this is a software error (0x10 access is denied) showing up and corrupting the profile.
Airstream in denying the claim stating as the update was done and paid for by the 2nd owner, that they are not responsible for this problem (even though BT and Wifi) worked prior to the update. Apparently this warrenty does NOT transfer to the 2nd owner. (Starting to realize that a 3 year warrenty is really not a 3 year warrenty).
I dont understand why this wouldnt be covered by AS, as the records clearly show the dealership updated the firmware on April 2019. Why do I need to purchase a new headunit and have it installed? I keep getting the runaround, from the dealership, and AS Techsupport, and Garmin stating its not their fault.
Thanks,
Jason

Straight from Airstream, here's what's NOT covered for the original owner under the three-year warranty: in a nutshell, nothing that Airstream decides they don't want to cover. Best of luck.

JASPERKINS - you said soon to be owners, so you do not own it yet, then dont buy it. I do not see the issue, if you do not own the unit yet and not willing to buy a new Fusion head unit, then threaten to walk away from the purchase, end of story.

JASPERKINS - you are buying a used van. Just deduct the price of a new Fusion head unit from your offer. Trying to get Airstream to replace it is a dead end.

MIKE - That was just too simple & easy, why couldn't I have thought of that ? Then OP can get a better head unit without the Fusion headaches

Thanks - good answers!
Any quick recommendations for the latest RV head unit? Will there be a problem if I upgrade the head unit in relation to other components?

JASPERKINS - that's a tough one for me because I actually have a Fusion unit that luckily works well enough for me, so I can live with it's minor quirks but I am in the extreme minority of 1. Almost everyone here hates their Fusion head unit. Hopefully those that hated it enough to replace it will chime in with recommendations. Best of luck in search.

Simplest would be just buying an identical Fusion head unit as replacement. Minimal wiring issues. Plenty on this forum are happier with Fusion than the old Kenwood/Garmin like I have. A lot of RV manufactures have switched to Fusions as they are cheaper.
My Kenwood works OK and I like it, but still use an iPhone for a second opinion on navigation since Google Maps has the best traffic data. I've updated my software three times. Got new map last year but it is still a few years out of date.
The major top-of-the line brands are Kenwood and Alpine.
Crutchfield is a good on-line source.

Best Buy also sells and installs head units.
