Factory horn replacement
Hey all
Trying to replace factory with the PIAA dual superior bass horn. Attached are some images and a couple questions are
- it doesn't show I need a relay.. Correct?
- what do I need to do with the remaining negative wire (green)
First test didn't work.
Thoughts please
Thx
Erny

Hi,
I installed these horns a few weeks ago using a kit from agile off-road which included a mounting bracket and wiring harness. I can confirm no additional relay is needed
If you split the positive (brown) wire and run a lead to each positive terminal on the horns Then do the same with the negative terminals to the green wire, they should work

Hmm. It's wired it that way and nothing. Interesting. I might need to check the relay to make sure it didn't get blown.
Thank you though

TX-Newbie, Hope you get your problems solved soon with a minimum of fuss. I've been considering a horn upgrade so I'll be curious to see what you have to say. I like the idea of the Agile Off Road horn kit - particularly if it includes wiring to make the installation easier.
I haven't taken time to understand how to remove the grill. Any comments on that would be appreciated.
ON EDIT: just watched a very short YouTube video on grill removal. Looks like several screws at/near the top edge of the grill, then several spring latches/fingers near the bottom edge of the grill. Is that correct? Hmmm.... ours is a 2010 Interstate, yours is newer and may be different.

Four years ago I bought a simple 15-bucks bass horn in local store, and simply connected it to factory horn wires, neutral and positive. From then and on I can scare any pedestrian with two-tone scream )))

Hey all
I had some loose wires and now it works with no problem. Sounds much better than stock.
I would follow what @schmitte did though which is get it from agile so you get the bracket and wires. Will make it much easier
Thanks all for the help

Can anyone tell me if it's workable to (for a lack of a better term) "lay" the wiring for the PIAA Superior Bass Horn Kit on top of the MB Sprinter OEM horn wiring in my 2018 AIGT?
I've ordered the Agile Horn Kit for Sprinter 2007-2018 from Agile Off Road and I am wanting to have both my original OEM horn and the new PIAA Superior Bass Horn be operable.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey Lucky,
You don't want to do that. It clearly states in the instructions that you don't want to Piggyback the horns. The kit has two frequency horns and sounds really good.
Any reason you want to keep the OEM?

I just thought that two sets might sound better (stronger) than one; thanks for the advice.

OEM Horn Replacement ~ Goodbye Circus Clown-Car "Beep-Beep"
Finally got around to replacing the laughable (sorry Airstream/MB) OEM horn in my 2018 AIGT Ext and was surprised how easy it was. The only intrusive maneuver was drilling a few small holes for the duel horn mounting bracket, zip-tie placement and a slightly larger hole to string the wiring harness thru. I was mostly intimidated by the grill removal and replacement, but that was super easy.
Most importantly this dual horn set-up is loud and impressive (not obnoxious).
Thank you Agile Off Road for an excellent OEM horn alternative.

Looks good. We'll stay with the European "meep meep" horn for now. Reminds us of old Road Runner cartoons, and we get a laugh out of it.

Installation looks good. Unfortunately, they’re back ordered for now. Like so many other parts out there.

Horn replacement
The pic is sideways! I removed the OEM horn. The two PIAA horns are wired in parallel. The two wires are connected to the original cable and make no connection to the chassis. I replaced the original horn bolt with a longer one so that I could place a few washers to move the horn forward. I mounted the second horn by drilling a bolt hole in the plastic shroud.
I used a push pin pliers to remove the push pin center posts. The pins were still difficult to move/remove until I used some silicone lubricant.
It was good to have seen previous comments regarding removing the grill.
