Smile Excited new AI Grand Tour owners!

Our 2017 GT will be ready end of Oct/early Nov. Thanks to so many people who provided background on how to negotiate a good deal. Such great advice really helped us through the process. We are very happy with our offer, and ended up working with two really great, professional dealerships.

Super excited but nervous as it was a BIG decision! I came across a wonderful, philosophical thread here about "cost v value" of taking the ownership plunge, and most of the comments were exactly why we went for it - we're on this great earth for who knows how long and carpe diem while you can. We can't wait to carpe diem across the country in our new AI.

Congrats!

I would recommend downloading and reading the owner's manual prior to picking up the coach so you have a good understanding of how things work. When you pick it up, take your time and go through all of the systems and ask questions re. the things that didn't quite make sense in the manual.

Enjoy!

Excellent advice. I know my husband will read it cover to cover and I will need to as well. We have a 2-hour "orientation" when we pick it up, but I know it will be overwhelming. I'm going to be taking furious notes!! It will be good to review the manual beforehand and have questions. Thank you!

Take your time during your orientation and make sure you understand everything. What you forget you can just come here to relearn lol.

You will be plugged in and on shore power. One thing I suggest is after they show you how everything functions is too disconnect the power cord and make sure that your AC works on generator power. Mine didn't.

It was an easy reset but I was leaving for the east coast in a few days and little panic set in haha.

Congrats on taking the plunge

I also recommend you take a camera along and video the walk through. That way you not only have a record of anything that wasn't up to standard but you also have a reference for when you can't remember what the tech said about something.

Which ones?

Would you mind if I asked which dealerships you worked with? And why two?

I second the recommendation on video taping the walk through. I did video mine and believe me it helped when it came time to winterize the first time. Also, take plenty of pictures of the inside and outside from different angles. My unit had a broken antenna that I did not notice until a trip where we encountered a big rain storm and had a leak over the dash. The pictures ensured the replacement was covered under warranty. Wishing you many happy camping trips.

Hi! We ended up with two just because they had the most competitive offers and - this was a big factor - they were both very professional and responsive. A couple dealers never responded, even to initial queries! We were very impressed with both BayArea Airstream and Airstream LA. Went w/BayArea, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend LA. It was very tough decision as both were great.

Great advice from both of you on the video. Funny - the rep recommended the same thing! I have a feeling we'll be watching the videos a lot initially - and consulting this forum!

We just got back from a 3300 mile two week trip from Tennessee all around Minnesota and back home again. The AI was wonderful - the perfect camper to stay on the move. That's over 10,000 in a year and 3 months.

At the end of each trip we visit a Beacon Truck Wash. They do a terrific job cleaning all the bugs and road crud off of the AI - for $28.00 and worth every penny.

Have a great time!
