Dealer Inquiry - Albuquerque

Curious if anyone has had any service experience with the dealer in Albuquerque New Mexico

Have recently been conversing with them about some warranty items… And after several exchanges they seemed remarkably incompetent. Perhaps I’m talking with the wrong person… And there’s somebody with common sense and expertise related to Airstream products. I think they also go by the name of holiday trailer sales… Or something like that. Certainly all their emails come from “Holiday trailer sales.” Feels like I’m dealing with people stuck in the the 50s.

I’ve been advised to drop the interstate off, they will take a look at it on or before September 24… Order parts… And when the parts come in they will “schedule” the Airstream for service. Obviously that’s not gonna happen… And I feel bad for anyone trapped in the scenario.

Would love to get some feedback on a terrific dealer service group between Phoenix, El Paso and the Denver triangle.

I can’t imagine who you talked to but Andrew Aragon, who runs the service department (and has forever) is the best Airstream tech I have ever met.

Tried to sneak under an overpass that was too short and pushed my a/c back about 3 feet, destroying it and giving me a “moon roof on the centerline of my trailer. Andrew fit me in during his busy season and when I got it back, it looked like new.

Since I worked in Yellowstone during the summer and lived in Miami during the winter, I would save up any gripes I wanted to have repaired professionally for my annual commute. I had him replace the awning on my 31’ and two years later, he replaced both axles.

The whole company is family owned and operated. If you get lucky, Mr. Aragon Senior, who must be in his 80’s but still shows up on occasion, will try and sell you a new 33’ Classic...

We have used them (last year; it's also where we bought our trailer) and they were very accommodating and helpful.

Thanks everyone -

Great to hear this feedback!

I’m clearly talking with the wrong person here.

I’ll contact someone else at the dealership who might be more capable and helpful.

My two cents

Albuquerque- I was there for a short visit in January. I needed some replacement parts- a solenoid and the battery disconnect switch. I told them of course the year and model, and was happy they had them in stock so I bought them.

My old solenoid was defective, and the replacement part is now happily working.

The disconnect switch, however, was the wrong part. It looked almost identical on the outside- the inside has a smaller board and different wire connector. Fortunately that switch did not have to be replaced. It took me a good while to figure that out however. I spent many hours working on this before understanding the situation: good replacement solenoid, but I was sold an incorrect switch. So it was both a good, and not good experience. Now I sit in Switzerland with an expensive switch that I cannot use, but is also not currently required. If I had taken the old switch with me, which I don't remember doing, I might have avoided the problem. It would have been great not to buy an incorrect part, in any case.

Would have, could have, should have. Bottom line: my electrical problem is solved.

Cheers!

Carl is the man we talk to on the phone before going in. He tells Andrew the issues, but you do need to make an appointment as they are backed up. We have always had good service and treatment there.

I think they're good, but ... three quarters of all Airstream repairs require only a good hardware store. Another fifth requires any generic RV store or Amazon. Five percent of them at MOST require an Airstream dealer.

Service Dept

We had the converter go bad on our 30ft 2001 Excella while in Michigan and before leaving for the Balloon Festival last Fall. Jackson Center was not able to schedule us until December so we made arrangements to have it installed by the dealer in Albuquerque while there at the rally. I paid in advance for the new converter, had it shipped to them and paid additional for their time to have it installed. It required us to spend more time there and in Santa Fe but we were back in Michigan by Nov 1. I would recommend them provided that you are clear about the service you need done.

I hope you can get your issues resolved easily, but stay away from the Denver dealer. They have multiple stores. We bought ours there and regretted it and the service. Nothing over the years of reading posts about them seems to show they have changed for the better. I don’t believe there are any other Airstream dealers in Colorado.

There are lots of Airstream parts that are readily available on the open market if you know who the original supplier/manufacturer was/is. A while back I suggested we start a list online of those parts and potential sources. Anybody interested?\

I purchased my AS at Windish RV in Denver and received fantastic service from them at the time of purchase and with the issues I encountered with it. I know they are usually backed up on service but for me if you let them know in advanced, you will find they go out of their way for their customers.
Just my experience with them.

I don’t disagree with that

My work is all warranty work ... so coordination with a capable dealership is important to me.

Airstream Adventures Northwest in Portland Oregon was my servicing dealer between 2014- Feb 2020 ... until they foolishly initiated a salary dump and fired 5 long term higher salary professionals at the store. Among them was Laura Phlam, service and parts department manager, and Kelli their service supervisor. Very talented high quality, intelligent professionals, who are missed.

Thanks everyone for your input on this, I appreciate learning of your experiences.
