CURT ECHO Wireless Brake Controller Experience?

Considering the CURT Wireless Brake Controller for my 2016 Interstate Twin. The device gets great reviews and reported reliability. It plugs in directly to the 7-pin vehicle connector, and then the trailer plugs into the Wireless controller.

My question is: does the brake controller orientation affect performance? It relies on a tri-axial accelerometer to detect motion and accel/decal. The Sprinter 7-pin connector is tucked under the rear bumper and is oriented left/right instead of front/rear. Does the accelerometer recognize and operate in this configuration?

I called E-Trailer, and they said no...but CURT (the manufacturer) said yes. And since it's an "electronic accessory" nobody is willing to accept it for return once opened.

Anybody have direct experience in the matter?

Three-axis means that it detects acceleration or deceleration in any direction, so it doesn't matter if the 7-pin connector is vertical or horizontal, longitudinal or traverse, or any angle in between.

One drawback is that it uses Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone, and you need the app running on the phone while you're driving if you want to use the manual override feature.

That's odd. This web page on etrailer's site (https://www.etrailer.com/p-C51180.ht...model=Sprinter) says it will fit a 2015 Sprinter.

We have a new Curt Echo Bluetooth brake controller, and after 5 trips and 2500 miles I am not happy with this controller. Even after making the fine tuning adjustments to the settings, it still locks and jolts when coming to a stop at slow speed. I'm now thinking of installing a hard wired brake controller as this problem seems to be caused by the millisecond bluetooth delay in the signal to the trailer brakes.

I am now looking for a dependable, smooth performing hard wired brake controller for my 20 footer.
