Besides the Bialetti Mukka Express I use for a single cup (see my earlier posting), I also have a Benjamin & Medwin coffee maker (similar to the Bellman CX25) which makes a classic cappuccino or latte.

In all cases, I use a stove-top coffee maker to limit the use of 110-volt electricity as I boondock. I also have a small hand grinder for my coffee, and grind coffee beans as needed.

LNBright,

Incorporating some early lessons in boondocking and coffee is the first challenge. Was researching the Coleman Stovetop Drip this morning and decided to check the forums, glad I did!

Have you been happy with the construction of the Coleman unit? And are you still running the original glass carafe?

Thanks

I'm new to Airstreams, but it seems as though it'd be a perfect for using on the stove top inside?

It is a simple thing, the bottom is a thin-walled metal tank, the back side is a plastic reservoir with a hose from the tank to the drip head, and a swing out basket holder. Not fancy, but has served us for years. I’m sure we bought it at a WalMart over a decade ago (perhaps closer to two).

Actually, the original carafe had gotten broken at some point; I ordered another carafe through one of those replacement parts websites. So, I suppose we’ll continue to use it: we’ve always just used it on a Coleman propane stove, am eager to try it out with the Airstream’s stove, am hoping it works with it (I don’t see why it wouldn’t, just haven’t had the opportunity to personally see yet.)

I love the CHEFMAN InstaCoffee Single-Serve K-Cup Pod, Coffee Maker. I use it at work since we're not allowed to have coffee makers with high wattages. It's a great deal for a single-serve coffee maker.

Not to start anything here, BUT, I thought the Forum consensus is:

- ProPride is the best WD/Anti-Sway hitch
- Cummins powered Ram 2500 is the best TV

and...

- AeroPress is the best way to make a cup 'o Joe.

That's all not settled science?

Coffee Maker

Some of us, in spite of a short Navy career as a plank owner in the ‘Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club’ don’t even drink coffee or consider driving domestic vehicles.

Yup, I’m a certified heretic…but I do tow with a Propride system!

We do both. When not on shore power we bring our glass carafe and kettle and brew on the cook top. When glamping with shore power we have a single serve pod brewer. In both cases, we use water we buy in gallon jugs. Better water makes better coffee.

I have a similar aluminum camp percolator circa 1960. Still one of the best ways, IMO. I do take a coffee filter and punch it down the center stalk. Works and tastes great!

There is nothing under a 1000 watts that makes a decent espresso... I have to settle for Nespresso shot when on the road. Wife fires up the generator, makes the coffee and brings it over while I drive or if we are at a stop (after topping off the fuel tank)...

We continue to use the Nespresso Mini... got it with the kit that comes with a frother (wife likes to drink her coffee with almond milk)...

At a campsite, I get to grind my own coffee beans, with a manual grinder, and use a Flair Pro to make a decent espresso...

My plan still is to change the inverter for a 2000 watts unit... wire the microwave with it... and be able to have a real espresso machine in the AI... It will still have to be small, but at least we can make better espresso with it...

Something like this (or a Rocket Appartamento)

EDIT: Well look at that!!! I did that quick search and this one on the photo is an 850 watts machine!! Woohooo!! Guess what we are getting for Christmas!!!?? It is a Quick Mill Carola EVO...

The electric Espresso Machines are a recent phenomenon. If you want an authentic espresso use the true and lasting method, no electric, just plain hot water from your gas stove. If you want to get fancy heat the espresso cup with hot water before putting the finished product in your cup.

Ohh the Moka pot. I grew up with that!

At the camp site... yeah... I am using all manual stuff... the only thing I need is hot water...

This baby is king! But I bought the three cup version and the base is too small for the stove top grates on my new 23cb! I was hand holding it in the morning. 🤣

This is what I use under my mock pot when I've got shore power. It works on inverter as well if the batteries are charged. Only 500w.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one is currently unavailable, but there's out there if you search around.

About six months ago we got Lucy one of the new Keurig Multi Stream coffee makers. We had one at the house and liked it very much. It got the full test in Lucy as we were on the road for 70 days this summer. This coffee maker is fast and good.

I use a heat-diffuser disk under mine, mostly to keep from overheating the handle... I got one initially because all the burners on the house range are too big for the base of my stainless moka pot.

I use a similar diffuser that we have had for many years, but something like this will free up your hands, also good for simmering soups.

Ilsa Heat Diffuser, Made in Italy from Cast Iron, Flame Guard for Simmering, 7-inches https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000I1WO...ing=UTF8&psc=1
