Thanks for the update and photos. A gem of a location if you want to see the San Diego area including North County up to Oceanside. Great access to I-5, and to the beaches from Ocean/Mission Beach to La Jolla Shores.

Welcome back home!

Peter

TJDONAHOE - that long distance endorsement from Montana so it must be good park. We never been to either one. We looked at both and since we had the 3yr old grandson , we settled on Campland just for kids activities. But we are returning soon and may check, out Mission Bay rv park for a 1st stay also. Do you have any pics you can post? Hardly anything posted in their website. Though I saw the map and looks pretty organized - not so cut up with many individual pockets like Campland. Thanks for recommendation

Alex AVI...glad you had fun at Campland! Yes, there’s camping on Coronado, on the strand, on the beach. It’s a huge parking lot, with no amenities, except for the beach! With kids, you might be better off at Campland with all of their amenities.

WEIRDSTUFF - Thank you for this. Will definitely check it out if we are not with the little kiddos. Really love Coronado/strand. I never tire of seeing/going there. Only bad thing about it from my perspective is I can NEVER afford to live there.

Lived in San Diego over 17 years. Loved it. Time and distance and job assignments took us away. Can't afford anywhere there now. 20-20 hindsight says we should have tried to keep a house there. Sigh. We do visit when we can, as we are only 90 miles away nowadays.

Don't forget to make a run up to Julian and get bread at Dudley's Bakery...

ROWIEBOWIE - appreciate your nice comment. On a personal note - I never had grandparents that did these kinds of stuff with me. And my own children never had grandparents that did these kinds of stuff with them either. That's not to say they did not love their grandchildren, it was just a different dynamic for their generation and they were also not as into active/healthy outdoors lifestyle that our generation is. So, I am the one breaking the cycle and changing the course of family activities & relationships (on both my side & wife's side of the families). The AS AI is hugely responsible for that. Without this type of tool, it would not be as easily possible. SCOTP has probably elaborated a lot more on that 'quality of life improvement' with owning an AI.

TJDONAHOE - you said the magic words - more room, well organized. That attracts me more than anything else

RMKRUM - True there. If you saw my reply to WEIRDSTUFF - I can only dream I could afford to live in Coronado But visiting in an rv is not a bad compromise . Oh, and forget about a 'run up to Julian' - we usually will ride (more like crawl, not run) our road bikes from Ramona up to Julian.
