Burping water pump - Debris

For the last several uses over 6 months the water pump has been cycling on/off. I have read that this means the water system is losing pressure due to a leak or a faulty diaphragm pump. I search for any leaks and could not locate any. I installed a check valve at the inlet of the pump and this helped but did not eliminate the cycling completely. I investigated rebuild kits but was not please with the purchase price and shipping so I decided to replace the pump. That solved the problem! I disassembled the pump head and found two plastic splinters. One of which was lodged in the check valve of the pump housing. See pictures. Now I have a spare pump! Another repair required due to poor quality control. Not sure where the splinters came from. Lesson learned, take pump apart first before replacingClick image for larger version
