Brake upgrade

After driving the Cabot Trail with it's long 13% grades and having the brakes overheating, it is obvious that better brake pads and rotors are needed. Granted, I probably won't see too many more 13% grades, but a long 7% grade would probably cause the brakes to fade as well. Nothing like going down a long grade in 2nd gear.

So, has anyone changed out their pads and rotors to something better than OEM?

Any opinions on semi-metallic vs ceramic?

Any particular brands that are better than others?

TIA.

We went to disc brakes and changed to electric over hydraulic, mainly due to the size of the trailer. 1957 was the last year for single axle Overlanders.

Changed out the original axle to a Dexter 5200lb (beam axle, not a torsion axle), kodiak 12" disc brake conversion and an actuator and brake controller from Tuson RV brakes. My F150 is old enough it doesn't have a built in controller. I like the Tuson unit because it plugs into the OBD port and reads the truck's braking and matches the trailer to it. It also allows me to get a temperature readout on the transmission.

Thanks, I should have stated this was for an Interstate vs a trailer.
