Black and grey tank connections to Macerator!

I was replacing the Macerator and noticed rotting hose connections adapter. Looked up parts and was shocked to see $96 for flexible hose and $100 adapter for hose connection. Question is has anybody used off the shelf parts to replace the above parts? Pics would be great.

Wow, no responses! Well, found out the coupling was leaking, $14 valterra 3”. The hose adapter is some kind of plastic and is fine. The hose was ok and if being thrifty, I would buy a stinky slinky and cut. So mystery solved somewhat!

Smart to fix it with off the shelf plumbing materials. Saves you $$!
Before and after pix on our 15. PS, if you lay your rig on it's roof it's easier to work on the macerator and it's plumbing!

I used a rubber hose form an auto part store when I modified the macerator mount and added a gravity dump to my old 2013 Interstate many years ago.

I ordered my parts in from DFW Airstream and I paid $350. I then paid another $150 to have someone install it. Come to find out, mine was still in good condition.
There appears to be some photographs of an installation below. I’m sure you followed this thread, but maybe not…

Check out FERNCO couplings, I used to cover the exposed black and gray pipes from the holding tanks to the valves to protect from road debris.

Boxster1971: How did you do your gravity dump? I have a 2013 & I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing. - Bob

I've always felt Dirk should have come from the Navy.
Good to see you have successfully made repairs! When I replaced the macerator on my van I wondered about replacement of the short flexible hose. It is an important part for absorbing vibration. Stinky slinky a good idea. Thanks for the update!

Just did a similar job yesterday. Bought 3" silicone 90 degree hose on Amazon. Vehicle will die before hose wears out again. I happened to see similar hose at a local Parker hose store.

There are several ways to install a gravity dump and many have a different twist on how they’ve done it and all work.

I installed a gravity fed dump during Covid to have as an emergency backup in case any of the dump valves fail but more to be able to have the gravity hose attached for longer showers when at a campsite and not needing to go outside to dump.

Five years later and we rarely use it since we installed a remote macerator switch on the inside. Now we can just leave the gray valve open and I can dump intermittently from the inside as the tank fills. I’m able to see the gray tank level from the SeeLevel monitor right next to the remote macerator switch or the Cerbo GX monitor to know when to dump. I considered removing it but keeping it for an emergency. I definitely prefer the macerator for ease of dumping hands down.

I store the dump hose in its own storage container underneath the van.
