Bim

Anyone who has switched out the obsolete precisioncircuits analog BIM with a solid state product, question:

what is the function of the gray wire on the "ge-set" connection?

Where does this wire go on a solid state BIM that has Ign, Grnd & Sig connections, or can it be discarded?

I called Precision Circuits with a tech question and asked with the Gen Set wire does just out of curiosity and to make sure I wired the Li-BIM correctly. They stated it powers an hour meter on the generator and that the new Li-BiM compensates for it so the power wire is no longer needed.

I’m assuming you may be upgrading your BIM as I did and where your question might be coming from. If not, it’s still the same theory.

Now, do I totally understood what he was saying, nope. I know we have an hour meter display for the generator and I haven’t checked to see if that is working correctly yet after upgrading to lithium and heavier wiring. Not sure if that was what he was getting at or what, honestly.

He reassured me it is correct to eliminate powering that particular wire though, so at least I can reassure you of that.

Replaced it with a PCInc Battery Isolation Manager 225 AMPS Lithium Battery
Part number: 00-10041-260

Works flawless with a 400AH LiFePo4 system, zero charging overcurrent times and you have full chassis/coach battery connection functionality. The OEM alternator will charge at 50+A and drop to the low 30's shortly before total shutoff at full charge without triggering Battery BMS overcurrent shutdown. We naw have 36 cycles on the battery cells most of those achieved with alternator charging or then solar. NO generator or shore power charging ever.
