Atlas problems after 2020

I owned a lemon 2020 Atlas which I sold in 2022 because of:
1. Major cracks in rear outside body
2. Failure of stabilizer jacks due to wiring issues
3. Many other issues described in my blog https://www.airforums.com/forums/blo...problems-3400/
I am considering buying a 2024 Atlas with E1 package and leveling jacks.

Question for Atlas owners - have any of you experienced similar body crack issues and/or stabilizer jack problems in the 2021 or later Atlas models?

Please chime in.

Atlas problems

It has been a week and no replies …..I take that to mean that there are no Atlas problems experienced by Atlas owners.

That is very reassuring.

Therefore the Atlas seems to be the only Airstream that has zero problems.

If only that were true. Maybe they’re so busy fixing everything that they have no time to reply?

Just purchased the 2023 AA with the E1 package. Only had it since Sept and so far, zero issues save a minor plumbing issue which was nothing more than a clamp.
We are currently in it in NC for Christmas with family. Very happy!

So, I am the owner of a very late 2022 Atlas. Should have been a 23 from its delivery date to the dealer. And, yes there are some issues, minor, very minor, cracks in the paint just above the driver and passengers seat. I will have them fixed at some time before warrantee runs out but being about an inch in length, they really don't bother me. I put some thin UV resin in the cracks to prevent water intrusion and possibly further cracking, I didn't even notice them until I hand washed the unit and came across them.
I have had to hand crank one of the stabilizer jacks as it got stuck in the down position. Most likely it was my fault that it got stuck. I put the jacks down while the slide was out and tried to retract while the slide was in. I most likely put too much pressure on curb side jack. I have not had a problem since, of course doing things the correct way.
I have had other issues that I have fixed (shower pan, rough ride, rattles, etc.) and I will post about them in another thread or threads.
But, I love the Atlas, would not go back to a TT as I have had 3 airstreams in the past. Loved them all, all had issues, but if you have these things and want to use them, you have to learn how to live with them and fix them.
best....

Major problems with Atlas 2022

Since we purchased our Atlas in June 2023, it has been in the repair shop for more than 7 months! Everything from slide out motor replaced and realigned, outside compartments with water leaking in, 2 broken stabilizer jacks, water heater repaired, generator fuel line repaired, side door and step still trying to fix. All repairs have been under warranty as we purchased new. The Naperville, IL Airsteam dealer told us the delay is due to parts not shipped from Airstream. Has others seen these major issues with this model or did we get a lemon?

We have had these problems and more with our Atlas 2022. We had a Tommy Bahama Interstate 2017 previously, which ran well, but we traded it in for what we thought was an upgraded model. Nothing but problems. Please see my recent post.

Having owners both, and. If you could problems aside Is there a sting feeling to which now you prefer.
One smaller / one larger maybe those types of pro or cons as you went about using the Atlas vs Interstate If slide out was a hassle.
Not sure if it’s way to do a comparison with out letting the problems impact one’s view

Thank you for your reply. The Interstate is too small for long trips. The Atlas is larger, which helps, but we only used it for 3 months since purchased almost 1 year ago. We just need it repaired or call it a lemon. It is still at the repair shop. We don't even have it.

Whether the Interstate is too small for long trips depends on how many people and pets are on board and one's point of view. For us, with two people and a 65lb dog, we have zero trouble fitting, traveling, and living in an AI for weeks and even months at a time. (Full disclosure, we have a GL model and yanked out the second row of captain's chairs since we weren't using them anyway. So much room!)

BTW, if I wanted something in the B+ category, it wouldn't be an Atlas. I don't like the Atlas floor plan, and after owning two Airstreams (first a trailer and now an AI) I am not particularly impressed with their build quality.

Best wishes, all, here's hoping you get all your warranty issues resolved and can enjoy the ride.

We’ve bought AA in 2022. It doesn’t have the E1 package. Has been nothing but problems. We were told the warranty was only for 1 yr. We have a punch list of about 15 repair items. It’s been in the repair shop for the 6 months. We have been arguing with Airstream on warranty and repair parts.
We love the coach but the Airstream service is horrendous. I think we also have a lemon.

The Airstream warranty is for three years, but it has a lot of exclusions. Read over the warranty section is your owners manual to get a sense of what Airstream thinks is excluded from the warranty coverage.

Good luck!

We are in a 2021 AI-19 and like it. Problems from day one but we are solving them or accepting them. Airstream service has been an issue. We do not have experience with getting service with SOB. Could it be the same dismal level or worse? We presently like the 19 enough (plus have invested a bunch of energy) to keep for now. Will seriously investigate Winnebago when we are ready to replace. If we could somehow get even a small bit of confidence in AS service we would not consider changing brands. Support after purchase is the reason we will look at other options. Maybe a Navion?

Major problems with 2022 Atlas - in repair for 8 months since purchase!

We have had problems after problems with our 2022 Airstream Atlas, which we purchased new in June 2023. It has been in and out of the shop since October 2023! Here are some of the items:
Generator not functioning - needed repair
Stabilizer Jacks – need to be replaced
Water in compartment – defective seal will need to be replaced
Rear compartment strut – defective and will need to be replaced
Wiring harness – wire hold failed, have fixed this issue
Step intermittent problems – motor is failing and will need to be replaced
Table floor mount- will need to be replaced and issue to be resolved with slide out properly fixed
Couch – couch switch went out and will need to be replaced
Galley shade – installed improperly, have since adjusted and fixed the issue
Lug nut cover, slide out, and door – waiting on Airstream about what the correct fixes are going to be.
Door – main issue is that the hinges weren’t tightened correctly
Slide out - wrong lugs used
Rear air suspension - alarm going off, need to determine.

Either we have a lemon vehicle or this model is poorly engineered.
Please advise if you had similar problems with an Atlas.

Yikes! Too many problems!
Maybe all RVs are lemons but in varying degrees?
Are you receiving good service in a timely manner?
Are you satisfied with the responses you are getting from Air Stream and your dealer?
Maybe time for a trip to the Airstream Factory Service Center?
Frustration and disappointment are not mentioned in the sales brochures but definitely part of the adventure.

Atlas 2022 now air ride issue

Thanks Dave for your reply. We had a conference call with Campers Inn in Naperville and Airstream reps today. They are trying to fix this next problem - air ride alarm issue - due to a part from the Netherlands. Airstream is only willing to give us 6 months extended warranty! Yet, our new rv has been in the repair shop for more than 8 months. We want a new vehicle or buy back. We are afraid to take it out on the road and another item breaks. Do not recommend an Airstream Atlas.

"Airstream is only willing to give us 6 months extended warranty! Yet, our new rv has been in the repair shop for more than 8 months."

You should not have to experience what you have described. Imagine how much confidence in purchasing an Airstream product could be created by offering at this point to transport the vehicle back to the factory for a complete go through and repair. On the other hand, reading what you are experiencing imagine how much damage Airstream is doing to brand and product leaving you in this situation. The dealer appears to be failing you as well. I'm guessing, and it may take some time but Airstream's lack of attention to quality of build and customer support will eventually impact sales enough to get attention. Please update as you get this worked out.

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback as Airstream told us this is typical with a new rv. I didn't think so. Will send an update.
