I use a HomeFi router-type device. It can connect with towers from different cell providers even when signal isn't great. Hope this helps.

Hi

The AS connect Pepwave is a mobile friendly version of that sort of thing. Since it runs straight off 12V, there is no inverter need to power it. The drain on your batteries running the inverter is pretty significant compared to the power a small device consumes.

Any cell based system will have its limits. If you like to go to places off the beaten track, you most certainly will find them. For some folks, going places like that is a "never done that / never would" sort of thing. For others it's "why would you do anything else".

Looking at what *you* want to do is very much part of this. Setting up to do everything everywhere all the time is expensive and takes up a lot of precious space in the RV. You quickly run out of money or out of room ... Might your idea of what to do change over the years? Sure it could. You then re-equip to match your new desires. Less room since you take this out and put that in. Still not cheap, welcome to life

I have a starlink high performance flat dish on top of my Interstate 24X. I can get 200+Mb/sec while underway; it's great. HOWEVER, we always seem to be under a tree at the campsites rendering the Starlink either frustrating or useless. Now I'm considering a Pepwave 5G and would plug the starlink into that. I understand the general concept, but in practice I'm not sure how seamless or effective it is switching to the best network available. I'm going to do my research and then put this in place for next season

Hi

The next layer (as you will find) is that cell service isn't available (from any carrier) in a number of places you might be camping. In other places, you have one and only one carrier. If their tower is maxed out, your data service will be poor to none, even with "3 bars" of signal strength. That nice shady campsite down in the deep valley by the creek likely has "cell issues" ..... . I have a *lot* of data on this.

One "interesting" solution is a Starlink Mini (for $30 to $50 a month depending). It's easily portable and if run off a battery can be placed just about anywhere there's a clear view of the sky.

Switching wise, the easy answer is to just leave both the Pepwave and the Starlink on "their own" WiFi. When one goes away, set up your devices to go to the other one.

Update: Coach is out of the shop but unfortunately not 💯 fixed. Ugh. I set up my Peplink router which is working but I didn’t see a connection to the “pre-wire” Athena on the roof. Also, I was trying to connect the MB MBUX to my now coach WiFi router. Wasn’t able to yet. Has anyone done that ?

The MBUX system has a built in WiFi router. You would be trying to link two WiFi sources together - I’ve never done that.

Starlink

Hello,
We have the Atlas 2022. I purchase the Starlink last year and very happy with the performance. I stop and start the subscription as needed, which is great. The only time I had an issue was with a campsite with heavy tree cover. As long as you can get a direct sightline to the sky it works well.

As far as the wiring I ran the Starlink cable up from the exterior compartment below the entertainment center and exited the cable out to the small cabinet on the right side of the entertainment cabinet. When departing I disconnect the cable from the Starlink receiver and coil up that cable leaving it in the outer cabinet. The cable is long enough that the receiver can be moved unit finding clear sightline to the sky. We do a lot of camping in the state parks where the reception is very poor and the Starlink comes through.

I would recommend the Starlink system.

Hi

The only thing I would change with that setup would be to go to a small / cheap / collapsable tripod to mount the device on ....

I need that little table for my glass of beer
