Are rear proximity sensors disabled when towing?

Just about to go on a long trip with a rented travel trailer in tow. Can someone please tell me whether the rear proximity sensors are automatically disabled when hooking up a trailer or is this something I need to do manually? And if so how?
Thank you! Peter

According to my 2012 owners manual the rear sensors are deactivated when you connect a trailer electrical plug. They can also be deactivated manually by the center dash switch. Attaching relevant page from owners manual.Click image for larger version

Thank you Boxster. I don't have that center dash switch but this gives me the answer I need.
And for some silly reason I had the notion the proximity sensors were an Airstream addition and had searched the Airstream manual! Doh!

On my last trip, I had my transmitter for my LED tow lights plugged in and the sensors did not disable.

Since then, I have bought a trailer connector with internal loads so that the Sprinter detects that there are bulbs attached. I have not towed with that new connector yet, so I don't know whether the sensors will deactivate now.

Interesting that there is no dash switch. Do you have the indicators shown in the attached page from 2012 owners manual? If not you might not have a Mercedes Sprinter Parktronic system. Click image for larger version

Yes, I do have those indicators. The system seems to work very well and is extremely sensitive - people walking around the vehicle will set it off instantly.

OK - mine is sensitive like that too. But I find it interesting that you said there is no Parktronic "P" switch in the center dash under the climate controls. I've attached a larger image to show more clearly where is located.

Hmm, next time I'm at the dealer I'm going to ask them for an explanation.
Thanks!

Has anybody figured out how to defeat the Sprinter from shutting down the blind spot detector when a something is plugged into hitch connector? I would like to use 12 volts there for camera. Alternatively does anybody know another source of 12 volts down low in the back of the Sprinter?

I don't think you can easily defeat that feature if you are tapping power from the hitch connector.
However it is reasonable easy to run a wire to power your camera, but you want a source that is only ON when vehicle is running. One good source that I have used is the engine running wire that sends signal to the BIM. That relay is in the back of all Interstates and you could just tap into that line and run a wire to your camera down low in back. I don't have access to the diagrams right not. But if you have a newer Interstate the information can be found in back of owners manual.

I have a 2014 AS Interstate, EXT Lounge. My manual doesn't have the wiring diagrams, but I looked at a 2017 User Manual and found the appropriate diagram. My problem is that I have no idea what the Battery Separator looks like. Large or small? Manufacturers name? Labeled by AS. I haven't opened up the area where it is (I assume under the rear lounge/bed. Can you please give me a hint what I am looking for? I really appreciate your help.
Cheers, SanibelRV

This photo is what mine looks like. It is a Trombeti relay controllered by the electronics module below it. Your arrangement might be different because I moved some of my components when adding batteries and a larger inverter. Hope this helps. Click image for larger version
