Annoying Travel Warning Awning Extended

We have a 2021 Airstream Atlas Tommy Bahama on in our first week of a two month trip across the country and Canada.

A few days ago the travel warning begins blinking alerting us that the awning is extended which upon further inspection is false.

Any tips or tricks on the Atlas on how to remedy this situation?

Found some tips and tricks before posting here that have not resolved the issue including:
- extracting and retracting the awning to reset it. (both fully and partially)
- some forums state that there is a metal clip over a white button on the left side of the awning that needs adjustment. We see the white button but no clip.

Thank you in advance for any insights or tips. Troy

Sounds like the micro switch (white button) isn’t closing. Try taping it closed and see it the alarm stops

TROYPEGG - It's not a clip. It's the lever arm that gets pushed by awning when fully retracted - which in turn pushes the plunger (white button) behind it - which in turn pushes the actual microswitch inside the black box.

If you see no "clip"/lever arm - then it got yanked, broke, or dislodged somehow somewhere in your travels.

As previously suggested, you may want to push in & tape TEMPORARILY. But you need to be doubly vigilant that your awning is fully retracted before driving off until it gets fixed. That is your only indication from inside cabin that it may not be fully retracted

We have the same issue, started last year dealer is still not able to fix issue. They tried taping the switch closed. This only worked for a day then started all over again. Dealer has ordered a bunch of new parts waiting for them to arrive.

TROYPEGG - Just to follow up on my 1st response - first I was not completely paying attention and did not realize you have an Atlas. I was strictly addressing the actual awning electricals and the said microswitch since you were specifically asking about that. The awning electricals itself is identical whether it's in an Atlas or an Interstate (mine). But now I realize you were talking about the RED LED Travel Warning indicator under the dash. Per AS any one of 5 issues (or combination) can trigger that RED LED such as an open compartment or extended component which will make driving unsafe. They are Exterior Compartment, Awning, Skylight, Stabilizer Jacks or Door Step.

Firefly display will/should be confirmed that it is indeed the awning and not any of the other 4. Has that been confirmed? Even if it has, have you cycled (out, then back in) all the other 4 possibilities? The cycling of all 5 is per AS recommendations. If all confirmed, then please disregard all the above.

A path to a resolution

First and foremost thank you to all who have replied to this post. As a new Airstream Atlas owner and RV'er my first experience with this forum has exceeded my expectations! Thank you

After trying the fixes suggested with no luck the Firefly control system froze up shortly after the travel warning buzzer manifested itself. We have connected with Firefly HQ directly and after a few email exchanges have determined that we have a bad / fried main control panel. Note here for those who have the Firefly in the Atlas and perhaps other rigs that the only way to silence the buzzer for a travel alarm is via the firefly.

Firefly is manufacturing us a new main control panel that will be shipped today and arrive tomorrow. We are hopeful that this will resolve the travel alarm warning, restore our AC Heat and Lights as well as other systems controlled by the Firefly and we are all a bit wiser than we were before this happened.

By the way Firefly HQ has been a pleasure to work with as they have been responsive and quickly getting our new panel into the production line stat.

Thanks again all for the assist and safe travels.

TROYPEGG - I agree. FireFly has great customer support. And my experience was similar to yours after only having our AI for a few days, the A/C not cycling right. FireFly delivered a fix overnight after Airstream dealer had spent 3 weeks waffling on the problem without any idea how to fix. In my book they have better support than AS.

BTW - if it's just 1 panel that's fried, the other 2 panels should still be operable. The fried panel does & could affect functionality of the good ones. So the defective panel needs to be disconnected from the motherboard and the system reset before the good ones go live again. But given you will receive the new panel overnight, no point going through that process. We'll reserve that as a fall back procedure when all else fails.

Good luck.
