My black car and silver truck aren't quite as bad, but the principal is the same- it takes a lot less time to wash the car-

Ok, you caught me. The blue van was actually attacked for trying to bring a 17 year old trailer into a campground with a 15 year old restriction. I am so ashamed......

One thing I have always heard about black vehicles- the factory has to have the smoothest clean body for black as any imperfection will show. SO I guess you can think of it as riding around in perfection while you sweat.

Coincidentally, Karen and I went to a dealer west of Knoxville to see a Camp Lite 21BHS in person.

Here's the one they had:

We liked it, but could absolutely not get past the color.

Salesman tried to convince us that the insulation would keep the color from making any difference, but I still doubt that. And we both just feel we'd like something brighter.

To avoid a hijack, I'll update our situation in the thread I started about our decision process.

Way too HOT !
I am sure you will travel outside of your local area and there are many areas that will be HOT!
Besides, if you are hesitating and posting here, you already know your answer.
Yep, you are correct.

I think silver looks great. Are you buying silver again?

I didn't appear that way with the black one I looked at. Lot's of orange peel. Another reason to go silver.

You guys drive some crazy cool cars!

Here are my rides...

Scoots the Scooter......and Abbey Roadster the Juke....and the Trek and Cervelo bikes!

All fun, but nothing that goes as fast as y'all's stuff!

(and yes, we did ride Scoots to a wedding all dressed up, but we also wore helmets and close-toed shoes....so don't give me grief!)

And, just to stay on-topic...we bought a grey Juke because our last two autos were white. Otherwise, would have bought a white one. Southern California = too much sun = too hot to buy darker colors like red or black.

Not related to car color, but to comments some of you are making about my vehicle....I was at my A/S dealer (ODM in Colfax, NC) picking up a couple of things and I was in my Lambo. When I went outside to get in and drive home, some "jewel" asked me, "do you tow your Airstream with that?" I'm on a Lambo owner's site as well and I posted that comment in a very fun thread called, "stupid things people have said to you about your car." (There are THOUSANDS of posts on that thread, BTW!) Maybe we should start a thread about "stupid things people have said to you about your Airstream...."

This might make your new thread, but here goes anyway....

Why is that a stupid question? I would imagine that thing has tons of power/torque. If a Chrysler 300 can do it....

Ok - put me in your "stupid questions" thread :-)

You just need the right hitch.

BTW, that's our 31'

We traded the Smart in on a Nissan Juke, however that might be overkill.

W-e-l-l-l-l...it does have 520 HP and around 400 lbs of torque, it is 4WD, but it only weighs 3,500 and is mainly aluminum. Even Andy T and CanAM couldn't keep it from bending to the ground if I dropped 950 lbs of tongue weight on it....ProPride or no ProPride! But, then there is that graphic of pulling an Airstream with a bicycle... Maybe I'll dummy up a photo that LOOKS like I've got it hitched and post that!

The secret to towing with a short wheel base TV is to replace the tongue jack stand with one that has a rubber wheel. and then just leave it down. Using the tongue jack provides you a full range of control over the tongue weight. I have not tried it yet, but I'm sure it will work.

"hey guys, watch this"
One of the most popular choices for one's last words.

Ken

To keep this on topic, make sure it is a black rubber wheel.

Ron, Now what about the interior color?!

Ours is the ebony cabinets with off-white leather upholstery. I would much prefer the all white interior, but, we saved $10,000 or so by buying this dealer demo. And we didn't see any silver ext's with all white interior when we were looking, and didn't want to order one..again, wanted to save the $.

Just jumping in but I really wanted Black/Onyx But then I remembered a Cadillac XLR-V I once owned (compensating I'm sure) but it was black with black leather.

I swore when I sold it I would NEVER own another blk/blk vehicle.

Like crawling in an oven every time I got in it.

We settled on silver (in case we decide we need a Bambi to pull behind later).

I still get envious when I pass a black one on the road, but then remember why I didn't get one.

I may park it in the cool weather (Illinois) but I don't plan on camping in it anywhere it is below 50! (That's why it has wheels - to take me to warm weather).

We went beige interior - onyx was too dark - beige just made us smile when we stepped inside.

Vote: Silver/Beige.

Is silver with a black interior available?
That's what's up.

After reading this thread I realize I made the biggest mistake of my life. I bought a black 2013 Interstate Ext with the light interior. Even though my wife and I have enjoyed our travels in Florida, it must have been hotter than we thought inside the rv. So maybe we didn't enjoy ourselves. Even though I can wash the entire rv in less than 20 minutes, it must have taken longer because it is black. Even though I own a silver 2008 a Corvette in mint condition I should have bought another silver vehicle. Maybe every vehicle we own from now on will be silver. I got to get rid of this rv before it's too late. What a disaster!!
