Alcoa wheel NUTS

Could anyone please tell me which nuts are good to replace the original opened nuts of the Alcoa rims, as they are rusting? I am talking about the chrom plated nuts without the hole and with no funny covers of course )

Are the polished St-St covers missing?

No, the covers are in place. I just want to replace existing nuts and covers with fully closed nuts without holes. Do you know by any chance which one they are, if yes please give me a link?

Seems like there was a discussion about this a few years back that found replacements. Wonder why yours are rusting. Mine was five years old when I sold it and no rust.

Also might check w/ Alcoa.

Yes - lug nut replacements have been discussed here and on the Sprinter-Source forum. As I recall finding a suitable replacement was not easy and expensive.

Probably better and a lot cheaper to clean up the originals and paint them to prevent rust. Then just reinstall the original Alcoa SS covers.

Alcoa only sells the lug nut covers. Those lug nut are the original Sprinter 3500 lug nuts.

Yes it is not a big deal to clean and paint the nuts, but the ends of wheel studs are opened and also rusted under the covers.

There are a lot of “closed” chrome nuts on eBay and Amazon and I would spend a hundred dollars for them, but I don’t know which one to purchase.

I too would like to find a nice looking one-piece replacement. I found a pill bottle whose ID is just a bit bigger than the lug nut (with SS cover removed). I wrap a piece of cloth around the lip of the pill bottle and apply some cleaner to the cloth. I then twist the bottle back and forth to clean the grime (rust) that is on the wheel courtesy of the lug nut, and then use a clean rag on the pill bottle to polish it. I then clean the SS covers before reinstalling them. Works well - but a maintenance free lug nut would be better.

Titus, since it’s not a rush, let’s wait until someone here will reply with his experience of changing the originals with the one-piece items, then we will do it also.

I have 1 piece log-nuts on mine for about 3 years.
They are made out of very cheep SS and rust so I am not recommend what I purchased.
I now have steel rims and all Tarim tires on as I am in Alaska.
Most of the aftermarket log-nuts are made in China with the cheapest materials.
