Alcoa Chrome Lug Covers

I replaced the tires on my 2012 Airstream Interstate today. The lug nut covers are chrome. I had no idea that they werenít solid chrome lugs. The tire store manager gave the covers to me in a baggie.
My question is how do I attach them? Do I need new ones or is there a trick to reattach them?
My wheels look pretty bad without the chrome lug nuts.

They are pushed on. If you look at them, one facet has an area that is depressed in. They tend to work loose after a while, so the depressed area needs to be re-depressed somehow. Maybe work a properly sized dowel into the cap, and then hit the depressed area with a tool of some kind.

Worth a shot. New covers AREN'T cheap.

First time I used a punch to reset the dimples that are on every other flat. Since then I have put a small piece of masking tape over the lug nut to create a snug fit.

This lines up with the cheap lug nut cover thingies Airstream uses on its trailers. I replaced them all with McGard chrome lug nuts. Do I once again need to go out and buy a full set of chrome McGard lug nuts, this time for my Interstate? Does anyone know what type / size lug nut one would have to order to so we can avoid messing with lug nut covers?

Thank you. We're discussing Interstate vans, which likely have different lug nuts. I'd love for these to work, though.

Titus and others are correct. These covers are a snug fit to the lug nut and will loosen over time. I have used a punch to provide more grip and tape when that doesn’t fit the bill. Note these are not easy to remove and purchased a puller that is coated and grips the sides without damaging the chrome surface. I would prefer a ‘real’ chrome lug over the fake covers for long term.

Since the MB Sprinter chassis is used by several RV manufacturers, what you want to look for is covers for the Sprinter, not just for the AI.

I've been looking for solid chromed lug nuts, but having second thoughts. The problem is that the lug bolts that MB put in the Sprinter are nice, solid, and rusty-ugly. A lug nut won't cover that up!

Those fit trailers NOT MOTOR HOMES.

I know the folks with trailers are trying to be helpful and I do appreciate that, but as you noted, this is a motor home (Airstream Interstate) thread, not a trailer thread.
