Airstream Weber Grill

I had trouble getting my old portable gas grill to heat up when I plugged into the quick connect gas outlet. I broke down and bought the Airstream branded grill for RV low pressure propane systems. It is really light except for the incredibly heavy cast iron grills. Lots of aluminum and plastic. I heated it up to burn it in before I put my filet on it. It took a little while to bring to heat but it got up to 475 before i killed it.

I will let you know how she cooks next time out. But it is a big upgrade from my old setup.

Same here. Got the Q 1100, removed the regulator and installed hardware and hoses as needed to connect to the LP port beneath/beside the battery box. Works great.

Nice! How long is the feeder hose? Can you get a reasonable distance away from the low pressure source on the AI/trailer when you grill?

These are perfect grills for light to medium duty camp cooking.

We bought the predecessor to your grill, a Baby Q, back around 2005-06. Cleaned after every trip, still lights first or second push, grate, burner and body still in excellent shape.
This is the most versatile grill I've ever owned.

I suspect if you ever sell the Airstream the grill won't be part of the package.

Bought the first one one 2007. Weber Q200 then later bought the Q100 in 2012. Found that the smaller version actually is a better fit for us. I pull the lid off to get into the storage compartment in the back of the AS. I also have the stand, which works great.

Airstream Weber Grill

Could someone post a picture of the Airstream branded Weber grill hose and connection side on the Weber?

I am not able to see the entire hose in the pictures above, thank you!

Looks like my original Weber Q xxx which has performed exceedingly well for 8 years. I’d rather use it at a greater distance from the trailer, though, so the little propane bottles work for me.

Thanks for the pictures!

So the hose looks like a normal, long, quick connect hose.

Is there a pressure regulator on or built into the grill?

To use the Weber Q with a low pressure source like the external connector on an Interstate you will need to remove the built-in regulator on the Q grill. It was mentioned earlier in this thread.

It's true that the Weber models in general have a pressure regulator which makes them incompatible with the low pressure source on our Airstreams.

The idea behind the specific AS/Weber branded grill that the OP just bought is that it has no regulator at all so that it will work, without modification, with the low pressure propane source on the trailer or coach. AFAIK, this Airstream/Weber Q grill is only available from the Airstream store.

I use a 10lb tank with mine. I keep a couple of "green" bottles just in case, but mainly the 10lb tank will last me 3 weeks. I've got a splitter on it so that it can share the propane with my outdoor 2 burner stove. If my 10lb tank runs out I can always hook it up to the main tanks on the tongue, but I like the flexibility to move the BBQ anywhere. The 10lb tank also slips in the storage area at the back of the AS. I just have to orient it a certain way so that it fits through the door and then I can stand it up.

I was glad I went with the 10lb tank as in some areas there are very few places for refills. But if I run out I have a better chance of finding the "green" bottles than a place to refill my larger tanks.

It appears as though they are out of stock. I'm wondering if they will have them in the Airstream store at the international rally?

That was fast... those were available when I posted the link...

I will have to stick with what we have... it was the old Magma grill I had in the boat... had it since 1996 and sucker still looks brand new. Collapses and fits inside this bin with all utensils, cutting board, hoses, etc. I even have a pizza stone that works great with it. All that slips under the rear bench. Flat tables store on top (or bottom)... we also have two of these bins in 18qt size that both fit on top of this one...

Magma has the LP adapter so it was easy to modify, just added some legs, bought a 12' hose, and it is ready to go. As much as I have the itch for a new grill, I see this one giving me many more years of service...

WACHUKO - if I only had even mediocre cooking (or grilling) skills, I would love to have a MAGMA little kettle like yours. I just a sucker for S.S. equipment. But since I can't cook or grill, I don't bother bringing any grill. We do bring the rice cooker or Air Fryer or George Foreman every once in awhile if staying more than 2 days in 1 spot. That the extent of my culinary skills. 😁

I placed my order online yesterday afternoon and I was notified that it shipped this morning, arriving via FedEx on Friday. Maybe there was a run on them after this thread went live. I wonder if I got the last one in stock?

Hi Wachuko,

What is the height of your grill when collapsed? I am looking for a new one because the Weber will not fit in my Interstate without trouble...

Thanks!
