"Airstream" keyed on/off switch under ottoman, next to master DC disconnect

This is a 2021 Interstate GL.

there's this AI on/off key , just like the one in the upper cabinet for "battery heater". but this one has no marking whatsoever.

there's no mentioning about this switch in the manual either.

the tech at AI service had no clue.

i have the key for this switch, but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

before i open it up, anyone has any idea what this switch does?

Maybe it's the warp drive?

Honestly, though, the BRS (Big Red Switch) in that location on our 2016 AI turns automatically from one position to the other when we flip the "Use / Store" switch near the sliding door on and off. Under normal conditions in our 2016, I don't think one has to do anything manually to that switch.

Also: the AI service tech who didn't know what it is for should probably go back to AI school, or at least give the Mothership a call to find out.

The 12-Volt Main Schematics in the Maintenance section at end of 2021 Interstate 24 owners manual shows a "Network Key Switch" the powers a "Future" Smart Network from the 8 AMP #5 CB. See the attached snip, with switch circled in red, from manual for details. The resolution of the diagrams in back of the owners manuals make it difficult to read all the details.

It is probably related to the "Smart Control" technology that Airstream just added to their trailers.

Unless it's powered via satellite like OnStar, that smart stuff isn't going to work well if you're camped where cell and wifi connections are weak or non-existent.

Maybe pull in the awning before you go on that hike they talk about in the ad copy.

It is for Airstream WiFi if you have it installed. If not, it is not hooked up to anything. No wires. Just a switch.

Since when is OnStar powered via satellite?
I know my 2008 is definitely only cell based.

Haha, maybe I'm just confused. I thought they were doing satellite stuff, too.

my Interstate has the LTE / Wifi / GPS all in one antenna pre-installed, but the router is sold separately. i bought a Pepwave router and installed it myself. ($600 vs $1700 from Airstream, lol)

that switch doesn't do anything. like the earlier post said, the schematic shows that switch is just reserved for future use.

maybe it's a different case for Airstream trailers
