Airskirts

Has anyone purchased Airskirts for their coach? If so how have they worked for late season camping?

Contrary to their name they are blow up cushions you place under your coach.

Hard Data Might Help

Looked at the website and could not find any information on what performance one might expect. Might be useful for long term use but seems impractical for temporary camping

Obviously Airskirts have not taken off. Our plan is to make a skirt out of a material like Sunbrella which is used on boats for various coverings. We envision it being held up by a variety of bungee cords and under body hooks.

This would not provide any insulation but it would keep the heat under the coach. It would be easy to put a small heater under the coach.

Not meant for 20 below but may keep us camping at 20 degrees

Honestly the Airskirt looks like a good idea. If your going to hire a canvas maker to sew something out of Sunbrella it might end up costing as much.
I think Airskirt is probably not going to be successful because there is probably not much demand for a specialized product like that and not because it’s a bad design.

Nay too expensive.

I can always buy a couple rolls of Reflectix and wrap around underneath with small heater. Also wrap around hose and water source. Probably would cost me at least $200. Not $1,600 for skirts.

That is a good solution if your staying in one place. I don’t think they pack so well for travel though.

I could see this if you plan on staying in colder temperatures (32 and under but not lower than 20) for over a week and longer. But it’s still pretty expensive and taking it down etc could be kind of difficult. It’s like trying to stuff air mattresses back in the bag they came in. Never found that to be an easy thing.

What about that silver board you can get at home improvement stores? You could cut it to shape fairly easily and wedge it under the Airstream. I’d think that would provide enough R value and block the wind enough to put a heat source under and keep some warmth in. Not ideal for storage other than being able to put it in the back or down the aisle for transport home. I’d think less expensive than these options possibly.

There are rolls of reflectix at any home improvement stores. they can be flimsy during wind. but they are darn good in keeping warm. I had those for my popup, when I camped in winter. inside was toasty warm with reflectix on canvas. i wore shorts and t shirt while sleeping inside.

I found one at Lowe's: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Reflectix-R...5-ft-L/1014123

this roll would work underneath and around AS as a skirt.

Straw bales - invite MICE!

Foil covered fiberglass or Styrofoam panels - a bit labor intensive to cut to correct height and shape to wheel wells end curves, bulky to move from one location to another, but light enough to go inside the coach.

Reflect-x. - floppy, but works well. Might be able to use 1 inch PVC pipe to make a hanging frame vertical pieces every 4 feet joined together with T connectors to 4 feet of horizontal pipe. No glue. Disassemble and move after rolling up the reflect-x. Not horribly ugly.

Florida - the Canadians aren't coming. Availability and maybe some bargains. Tourist attractions? Covid hotspots? But it is WARM.
