Air conditioner smells like rotten eggs??

We were in the desert heat, plugged in and ran our AC. Day 1 was great! Day 2 it didn't seem very cold! Day 3 we turned it on and it seemed cool but it immediately smelled like rotten eggs. Turned it off, waited awhile, turned it back on and same smell. Third time same so we gave up and didn't use it.
Any ideas what it could be??

Possibly a burnt start capacitor. It happens when there is a large starting amperage demand on the compressor (high humidity or extreme heat). Any RV tech with their salt will be able to diagnose it and change one in about 15 minutes.
